Parikrma Champions League kicks off in style

The second edition of the Parikrma Champions League was inaugurated by two former Indian cricketers Syed Kirmani and EAS Prasanna at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Kirmani said, “The Parikrma Champions League is a unique tournament and a wonderful opportunity for young footballers. This is the kind of boost needed to encourage youngsters in our country to pursue their passion for sports.”

Kirmani added, “I am happy to be associated with Parikrma and to kick off this exciting event along with Prasanna. We wish the teams all the very best.” The two declared the tournament open, unfurled the championship flag and took the first kick on the turf, before wishing the first two teams, Farook Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, and Ryan International School, Bangalore. 



AR Khaleel, President, KSFA and Vice President AIFF, said, “KSFA’s goal is to promote the game of football and we are happy to support Parikrma in its endeavour to raise the level of the game at the grassroots.”

Parikrma Humanity Foundation, a non-profit organization with the aim to ensure that even the poorest children can access the best possible opportunities anywhere in the world. In its 10th year of operations, they run 4 Centres for Learning and a Junior College, providing education, nutrition, health, and family care. Sport is an integral part of education at Parikrma, and Parikrma Champions League aims to give children the best opportunities in sport.

This year’s Parikrma Champions League is presented by Menzies Aviation in association with KSFA.

Shukla Bose, Founder-CEO, Parikrma Humanity Foundation, said, “We are thrilled that Mr. Kirmani and Mr. Prasanna are here with us to launch the league. We hope that our children can learn from these legends of sport. We are also grateful to Menzies Aviation, the Karnataka State Football Association and all our other sponsors, without whom this tournament would not have been possible. I look forward to an exciting tournament – may the best team win!” 



Mr. Stephen Koller, Executive Vice-President of Menzies Aviation, was also present in this occasion.

ASC Centre and College was last year’s champion. All the matches are played at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
