Karnataka enter semi-finals of Khelo India Youth Games

Karnataka pulled-off a victory against Haryana in a must win game to reach the last four of Khelo India Youth Games. Sarath Rajkumar scored the all-important goal, from a pass from Macarton Louis. 

After the loss against Meghalaya on Tuesday, both Karnataka and Haryana  were tied at same points, and the state boys needed a win to qualify.

Karnataka finish the group stage with 6 points behind Meghalaya, they face Mizoram in the semi-final on Saturday, while Meghalaya take on Kerala in the other semi-final.

 

Praful Kumar to lead Karnataka in the Khelo India Youth Games

Praful Kumar will lead an 18-member Karnataka State U-18 Team for the Khelo India Youth Games 2021 to be held in Panchkula, Haryana from 4th June to 13th June 2022.

The squad left Bengaluru for Chandigarh on 30th May.

Chinta signs for Mohun Bagan

Hubli boy Chinta Chandrasekhar Rao signed for Mohun Bagan at the IFA office today. Chinta had a forgetful last season after ending the season with Sporting Clube de Goa in 2013-14 - nothing went as per plan. 

He had a talk with Kalyani Bharat FC, nothing worked out, and then the club winded their operation. So when nothing went in favor for him, he decided to join the Bangalore-based Super Division team Students Union. This club was close Chinta’s, he knew the Ravi and Trimurthy sir, and they were like family members. 

Chinta wanted to play BDFA League primarily to keep himself fit, and then try for I-league clubs later in the second window, however, that did not work out either. Several players from ISL returned to the I-League clubs making my chances difficult to play in the first eleven. 

Bangalore League was postponed, the other thought came to his mind was to try second division. He was heading nowhere but he was hopeful that god will open up the door.

Chinta got a call to join the century-old club from Sanjoy Sen, his former coach during United Sports and junior India days. He was practicing with the team for past few weeks and Chinta’s performance will be evaluated in Kolkata Football League, which has already started, and Mohun Bagan will be playing their first game on this Saturday, August 6.

It has been a while the Kolkata clubs have had any Bangalore representation. The supply line from the breeding ground of Indian Football to the big clubs of the Mecca of Indian Football has been reduced. Satish Kumar in 2010-11, Murali J in 2011-12 were the last in list, and Dada Nabeel was on trial a few seasons back. 

The latest addition is Hubli-boy Chinta Chandrashekar Rao. A side back, a TFA product, who had earlier turned out for United Sports and Sporting Clube de Goa in the I-League. 

Chinta had a very low last season, had no club for most of the time. He signed for Viva Chennai, and then occasionally turned for Super Division team, Students Union in Bangalore league. 

Chinta called up Sanjay Sen, his former coach in United Sports, who in turn told him to wait until he got a call from the club in two weeks. Interestingly, Sen was also the assistant coach of the Junior National team during Chinta’s junior days. 
Chinta’s performance will be evaluated in Kolkata Football League, only then he’ll be registered in I-League. 

Speaking to GCSStars.com, Chinta sounded ecstatic, “I have kept myself fit last year, I have to play well, and by god’s grace I will be able to prove myself!”
