Ball will never roll out from Arun Kumar’s hand

What looked like an innocuous injury in the practice session seemed to fatal for a young goalkeeper. Arun Kumar, the reserve keeper of HAL, who injured his shin day before yesterday, experienced breathing problem today morning, he was taken to HAL hospital, where he was declared around 11 am.

Apparently, the shin-injury resulted in a hairline fracture, the affected area was put in a cast leg, and he was advised a month’s rest by the doctors.

Arun Kumar was feeling restless all last night, by the time he was taken to the hospital in the morning, it was too late, and the tragic incident happened. The primary report as per the doctors who treated Arun suggests that the death was due to a massive stroke. 

Post mortem report should provide more details.

Arun Kumar, 23, hailed from KGF, and lost his parents while he was a child. He was a product of SAI, Bangalore and represented Karnataka in the sub-junior nationals. After moving out of SAI, he played for Viva Kerala, and for the last few seasons he was with HAL.

  1. Its really very tragic to see footballers pass away like this, i would say it was lack of medical attention. No one can deny the bloody lapses in the medical knowledge of the doctor specially in sports section anywhere in the country. The doctors who treated him must undergo serious questioning by the police and reports looked into to have a clear knowledge of how a shin injury could lead to a players death.
