Bengaluru to host Unity World Cup 2014

Commemorating the exposition of the sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier, a decennial affair (happens every 10 years at Old Goa), the John Paul II Foundation for Sports in Goa, an ecclesiastical body of the Archdiocese of Goa is hosting Unity World Cup 2014, an international football championship in India. 


The group matches will be played across three venues - Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Goa, Bangalore Football Stadium, Bengaluru, and Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad. 

India is placed in Group A along with Brazil, Portugal, and Ghana. Group B consists of Columbia, Nigeria, Egypt, and Uzbekistan. 

The opening ceremony, the semi-finals, and final are scheduled in Goa. The semi-finals will be played on December 11 and 12 and the final on December 14.
