South United beat Fateh Hyderabad, register first win in second division

A cagey game saw both sides put on a disciplined performance, which South United FC (SUFC) did just enough to walk away with a narrow win in the end. While most of Fateh Hyderabad's attacking threat early in came through long throws, SUFC were reliant on some great wing play. However, both teams put on a stellar defensive show for most of the game and only saw themselves lose shape towards the end.

SUFC channeled most of their attacks on the left flank through Aaron and Sudipta. They were involved in the best chance of the first half as they created a great opportunity for Rungsing, whose composure let him down in front of goal.

The stand out performance of the half came from defender Amit Tudu who was at the end of every cross and made a number of important blocks to keep his side in the game.

The second half started in the same vein as the first, with time however, both sides began to venture forward much more.

This saw FHAFC press high up the pitch and win the ball in dangerous areas. On one such occasion they came within a hair's breadth of getting the lead but Jayanth's superb reactions kept them in the game.

Only a few minutes later, Aaron was released down the right, he did well to beat his man and roll the ball into Jotin Singh's path and he made no mistake from a few yards out.

The visiting side pushed hard in the remaining 20 minutes to pull level, but despite coming close on a couple of occasions, SUFC held out to clinch the win.

Fateh Hyderabad rout South United 4-0 in Second Division

South United’s winless streak continued in the Hero Second Division League as they crumbled to a 4-0 loss to Fateh Hyderabad AFC. Trailing 2-0 at the 50th minute mark, SUFC pushed forward to claw their way back in the game and conceded two late goals on the counter. 

The early action in the first half saw both teams trading blows as South United FC created a chance at one end only for Fateh Hyderabad to create one down the other. The closest South United FC would come to a goal in the first half was when Sudipta’s attempt came off the crossbar midway through the first half. 

Naro Hari Sreshtha who struck the telling blow for the home side though with his goal in the 29th minute giving his side the advantage and leaving SUFC to chase the game. South United spent the rest of the half creating chances but couldn’t get too many shots away that threatened the Fateh Hyderabad goal. 

With the sides walking in at halftime with the home side leading through a slender 1 goal lead, the game remained in the balance. 

The second half began poorly for South United FC as they were 2-0 behind in the first 5 minutes through Gagandeep Singh. The following 20 minutes were South United FC throwing all they had forward to get the all-important third goal in the game early so they could find a way back in the game. 

Fateh Hyderabad’s sturdy defence rode out the tough part of the game and started to get a better foothold in the game. The urgency for South United FC to throw men forward meant more space for Fateh Hyderabad on the counter. Substitute Bedashwor Singh took advantage of that in the 87th minute to make it 3-0 and put it virtually out of reach for SUFC. 

Another substitute, the Australian Emile O Damey stepped up to the spot to put away a penalty in the 89th minute to cap off the win.

Ozone crash out of I-League second division

Playing a woeful game of catch up, Ozone faltered again at home in the hand of Fateh Hyderabad AFC. The visitors scored two quick goals in the first half, owing to some poor defending from Ozone backs. 

In a match where both teams needed to win to retain chance to qualify to the next stage, Fateh took the lead in the third minute from a goal from Nima Tamang. They struck again in the 23rd minute from a cross from Bangalore boy Manoj Swamy Kannan which Bonison Singh made no mistake. 

Anto Xavier reduced the margin for Ozone in the 40th minute. 

With the inclusion of Satish Kumar and Vignesh G in the fisrt half, Ozone tried come back to the game. However, they failed to crack Fateh defense. 

With 7 points and an away game in hand, Ozone are out of I-League Second Division. They currently stands at 3rd position in Group C after Fateh Hyderabad AFC and Kenkre FC. 

Ozone kick off I-League Second Division campaign on Friday

Ozone Football Club Bengaluru (OFCB), the professional football club from Bangalore will start their second division I-League campaign on Friday when they take on Kenkre Sports Club at the Bangalore Football Stadium. 

OFCB is placed in Group C in the preliminary round along with Kenkre Sports, Pride Sports, and Fateh Hyderabad. This season of I-League second division matches will be played in home and away format.

U15 South Zone Youth League kicks off at Inventure Academy

Rest of India II (Group E) of the U15 Youth League will start-off today at the Inventure Academy School Ground, Sarjapur Road, located at the eastern part of Bangalore.

Participating teams are – Bengaluru FC, Fateh Hyderabad, Ozone Football Club Bengaluru, Boca Juniors, Kovalam FC, and Mahogany, Chennai.

Matches will be played at 1 pm and 3.45 pm. In the first day, Kovallam FC plays against Fateh Hyderabad, followed by Boca Juniors versus Ozone
