The trials, scheduled to be held across 6th, 7th and 8th of September at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Ashok Nagar, will be for entry to the club’s non-residential Academy in Bengaluru, and for children born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2015. Boca lift U14 KSFA Youth Premier League title, Bengaluru FC boys complete sweep with U12 title

Bengaluru FC U12 side bagged the KSFA Youth Premier League title with a 3-0 win against Roots Football Schools, joining the U8s and U10s as Champions of their respective age groups in the competition, at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, on Sunday. 

Earlier, Boca (Yellow) Juniors India convoncingly beat FAB 3-0 to win the U14 KSFA Youth Premier League title. 

Yesterday, in the U17 age category final, Stadium FC defeated Bangalore Soccer Galaxy with a same margin of 3-0. 

The U8 and U10 age category got completed few weeks back with Bengaluru FC grabbing both the caregory.

Double Pass Development League for grassroots launched in the Garden City

International youth football development experts Double Pass launched Double Pass Development League (DPDL) in Bangalore at ‘Kicks on Grass’ last weekend with thunderous applause from parents, animated goal celebrations from children, and superfocused team huddles from coaches. 

The emphasis on development of grassroots football in India has never been more significant than it is today, and the city of Bengaluru experienced this at a whole new level with its largest season-long grassroots competition launching to tremendous fanfare.

The competition follows a league-cum-knockout format spread across 6 months with matches held on weekends. This season overall will host 600+ matches from three age categories (U7, U9, U11) and will provide an opportunity to compete to approximately 500 kids from 39 teams between June 2019 to January 2020. 

Some of the most prominent football academies in Bangalore, including the youth teams of the current Indian Super League (ISL) champions Bengaluru FC, are taking part in the season long competition. Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools, Roots Football School, Raman Sports Academy, BARÇA Academy Bengaluru, Gameday Football Academy, to name a few, have incredible talent representing them in DPDL 2019/20. The hyper-local format of DPDL further enriches Bangalore’s football ecosystem by giving the lesser known academies a chance to challenge and compete with the best from the city. 

DPDL is Bangalore’s largest grassroots league and is supported by the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) and approved by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) under its player development initiative – Baby Leagues. Double Pass India Director, Sarthak Dubey said at the launch, “it is imperative we align our goals with the strategic plan of AIFF and improving the quality of competition at the grassroots level is the number one focus area for the National Federation. We at Double Pass believe that more competitive games will result in better skill acquisition and eventually create better players.”

Double Pass Development League for grassroots start on Saturday

Double Pass Development League (DPDL), a community-based football league for grassroots and youth-level will kick-off on Saturday, June 29, at Kicks on Grass, Bellandur. DPDL is a community-based platform which enables development of football talent through structured and organised competition between football academies and schools. 

The objective of the league is to provide the kids an opportunity to experience a true season-like experience of 30 competitive games over a period of six months, similar to Europe, South America and other developed football nations.  

DPDL is supported by Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) and recognised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) under its player development initiative – Baby Leagues. 

The league will feature some of the top academies in Bangalore including the likes of Bengaluru FC, Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools, Roots Football School and Raman Sports Academy to name a few and provide an opportunity to ~500 kids from 39 teams across 3 age groups (Under 7, 9 & 11) in a total of 600+ matches from June 2019 to January 2020. 

Through the league, Double Pass, the host, will assess academies and provide international benchmarking. Also, they will be conducting workshops and masterclasses for coaches, staff, and parents to educate and assist in creating a state-of-the-art football talent development system. 

[Notice] KSFA to host AIFF workshop

KSFA will be hosting a workshop for AIFF Academy Accreditation and Baby Leagues at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. 

Srinivasan Saimani, Manager - Baby League, AIFF and Mazhar Ahmed Mansoor, Development Officer, Tamil Nadu will be conducting the one day workshop for all stakeholders interested in Baby Leagues or in applying for Academy Accreditation for 2019-20.

6th February, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm (session for Academy Accreditation) 

2 pm to 4 pm - (session for Baby Leagues).  
The workshop will involve explanation of the AIFF Baby League rules and regulations, AIFF Baby League Protocol, and the AIFF Academy Accreditation procedure and its regulations.

Representatives of existing academies as well as those interested in starting academies/baby leagues should register their names before February 4, 2019.

Roots Football Foundation host inter academy football festival

Roots Football Foundation in association with BLK Kashyap will be hosting an inter academy football festival for the budding 11 years and below footballers. Leading football academies from the garden city will be taking part in the festival. 

Played in league cum knockout format, the festival will be played at New Age World School, Yelahanka on December 9 and 16. 

The various age categories include: 

• Under 11 (for 2007 and 2008 born)
• Under 9 (for 2009 and 2010 born)
• Under 7 (for 2011 and 2012 born) 

Under 11 and 9 age category will be played in 7-a-side (7+ 5 substitutes) format and Under 7 in 4-a-side for without goalkeepers (4 +3 substitutes).

BLK Lions crowned champions of U13 Roots Football League Season 6

The last round of league and final play-off matches of the sixth season of the Roots Football League (RFL) were played at the TurfPark, Koramangala yesterday. Teams gave everything they had to win the league. In the Under 13 BLK Lions won 4-2 against PN Rao Rhinos to tie on 15 points with Sharks who won their match against Aarwind Hawks 3-1. BLK Lions emerged champions based on their better head to head record against Sharks. 

In the 6th Season of RFL, around 220 boys and girls from over 80 schools in Bangalore participated. There were 28 teams in 4 age categories - U7, U9, U11, and U13. 32 parent coaches managed the teams.  

In the Under 11 category, Stallions won the league in style by beating RFF Bisons 7-3 in their last match to maintain their position on the top of the league. BLK Lions finished second in the league winning their last match against PN Rao Rhinos 5-3.

In the Under 9 category, Sharks were crowned as champions after beating Drunken Monkey Eagles 3-2 in the second leg and winning on overall aggregate 8-4 over the two play-off legs. 

In the Under 7 category, Sharks beat Arwind Hawks in sudden death, penalty shootout as the two teams were tied after the two play-off legs on 6-6 aggregate goals to win the championship. Aarwind Hawks came from behind in the second leg to score 3-1 and tie overall on aggregate.

Shreyas Ketkar to lead Karnataka in Sub-Junior Nationals

KSFA has announced a 22-squad Karnataka for Sub-Junior National Football South Zone qualifying round. Qualifiers will be played at Ananthpur, Andhra Pradesh from September 3 to September 8.  

Karnataka is placed in Group A along with Tamil Nadu and Telengana. Group B consists of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Pondicherry. Shreyas Ketkar student of DPS East will lead the state team.

U-16 Youth League - ten teams confirmed for National finals

55 teams started their journey in the U-16 Youth League this season across the  nation for the 16 coveted berths in the National Finals which will be played in mid-January, 2017. Nine teams have been finalized until now from seven zones and others are still fighting out of their skin to grab the remaining slots. 

Shillong Lajong FC and Royal Wahingdoh FC, the cross-city rivals from Shillong, have proved to be too strong for the other teams in the Shillong-Guwahati zone and they have already booked their berths in the National Finals. 

Kenkre FC, having been drubbed by the other teams in the last edition, have come back strongly to make a strong statement this season. The Mumbai-based club have gathered 15 points from 6 matches and they’re going to represent the Maharashtra zone in the National Finals along with DSK Shivajians FC, who had a stupendous run in the zonal round. The Pune outfit have outplayed their counterparts completely, having smacked 36 goals in 6 matches and gathering all possible 18 points from them. 

Although the last round of matches are still yet to be played in the Kolkata zone, the Mariners have shrugged off the last-year debacle and they’re already in the next round, thanks to their exuberant run in the zonal round where they have registered 6 wins and 3 draws so far. United Sports Club (17), Mohammedan Sporting Club (15) and Kingfisher East Bengal (12) are vying for the last spot available in the Kolkata zone. Their fates will be decided on December 10 when the Black Panthers will lock their horns with the Mariners and United SC play against the Sports Authority of India team. On the same day, Kingfisher East Bengal take on Southern Samity, who are already out of the tournament. 

Sudeva Football Club completely outplayed the other teams in the Delhi zone and thanks to their 100% winning spree, they are going to represent the Delhi zone in the National Finals. 

Undoubtedly, Ozone Group FC youngsters have proven to be the most brutal group on the pitch who netted 36 goals over 6 matches and didn’t concede a single goal. Other three teams were completely ousted and their performance have gone haywire against Ozone Group FC. 

Redstar Football Academy held their nerves to grab the sole berth from the Kerala zone. Albeit Prodigy Sports were also running neck-to-neck with them, the Thrissur-based club finally claimed the solitary berth from the southernmost state of the Nation. 

The Blues from Bengaluru have plied their trade from the Rest of India I zone and ousted the Goan powerhouses to snatch the only spot from the zone.
Pride Sports have sealed the sole spot from the Rest of India II zone which was staged in Gandhinagar. 

Rest of India III is still going on in Imphal and the matches of the Rest of India IV group is slated to start in New Delhi on December 14, 2016. 

U-16 Youth League to kick-off from tomorrow

55 Teams from all over the country will ply their trade in the U-16 Youth League which is slated to kick-off on Tomorrow, September 24, in Kolkata and Shillong simultaneously. 

Youth Teams from all Hero I-League Clubs and two Teams from Hero ISL Clubs along with many an Academy will be fielding their Teams for the top honours across 10 zones. 

Ozone Football, Roots Football, and Boca Juniors are the teams representing from the Garden City and will be playing in the Bangalore-Chennai zone. 

The League, which commenced last season as the U-15 Youth League, has been refurbished as the U-16 Youth League keeping an eye on the forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.

Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League said the increase in the numbers highlights the “urge among the Clubs to perform.”

“The numbers speak. 55 Teams are participating in the U-16 Youth League which is Indeed remarkable. It proves the urge among Clubs and Academies to prove their mettle,” he told www.i-league.org.

"I wish success to all the participating Teams. The competition will be intense and may the best Team triumph,” he added.

The teams from every zone will play on a home-away basis among themselves in the round robin stage and 16 teams will qualify to the National Final Round eventually. Those sixteen teams will be divided into four groups and the group champions will qualify for the semi-final which will be followed by the final to decide the U-16 Youth League 2016-17 champions.

Royal Wahingdoh FC will face Rangdajied United FC at the Mawlai Ground in the opener (September 24) while Mohammedan Sporting FC will lock their horns with United Sporting Club at the Mohammedan Sporting Ground the same day.

Minerva Academy FC, champions from the last edition have been clubbed with Youngsters Club, Lonestar Kashmir, Real Kashmir and J&K Bank.

Rest of India II (Group E) of the U15 Youth League will start-off today at the Inventure Academy School Ground, Sarjapur Road, located at the eastern part of Bangalore.

FIFA Live Your Goals - girls grassroots football festival at Bangalore

In an attempt to pull in more young female players across a greater diversity of regions and cultures to football, FIFA has introduced the Live Your Goals program. Over the past few week’s nations as diverse as Dominican Republic, Cameroon and Malta all conducted events, thus providing just a small sample of the program’s broad reach.

A similar grassroots football program was conducted at the Bangalore Football Stadium today morning. Nearly 60 girls of 6 to 12 years of age from various corner of the Bangalore including the rural fringes took part in the program.

KSFA to host grassroots football tournament

To uplift football at the grassroots-level and encourage community feeling, state association, KSFA is going to organize U14 football tournament. 

The tournament is named in the memory of AT Vijayarangam (Winners Cup) and KH Lakshminarayana (Runners up Cup) and will be played between teams from different areas within Bangalore. 

The tournament will be carried on a league-cum-knockout basis, and will be played at the National College Ground, Baswangudi from 1 pm, May 16 onward.

4th Edition of Parikrma Champions League

Parikrma Champions League, an annual school football event organized by the Parikrma Humanity Foundation will be starting from November 18 at the HMT grounds, Jalahalli, Bangalore. This will be the 4th edition of the Parikrma Champions League which will go on till November 18. 

A total of 16 schools will be competing in the Parikrma Champions League, 4 schools are divided in 4 groups, and top 2 schools from each group will make to the knock-out stage. 

Parikrma Champions League will witness 3 out stationed schools from Goa and Kerala and with 13 schools from the Garden City.

Government Sports School lifts Coca Cola U-14 tourney

Government Sports School, Vidyanagar won the Coca Cola U-14 football tournament by defeating Roots Sports 1-0. In a keenly contested match, Dilp Gowda scored the only goal in the 40th minute. 

Earlier, in the semis, Government Sports School got the better of Stadium Soccer School and Roots Sports defeated Jain international School, Kanakaapura Road.  

The tournament kicked off on Sunday, August 24. In-spite of BDFA trying to reach out the maximum number schools at Taluka-level, several schools remained absent owing to examination. Finally 16 teams turned up for the tournament played in a knock-out format of 25 minutes each half. 

Keeping Sub-Junior Nationals in mind, the state football association deputed spotters. Selected players will be representing Karnataka in the u-14 nationals.

Materazzi wows Bangalore Football, might take part in ISL

The first FIFA World Cup and Champions League winner to step up on the Garden City, Marco Materazzi wowed a sizeable number of crowd who came to watch him at the Bangalore Football Stadium. 

Inter Milan believes in developing football in new markets. So along with Barbara Biggi, Head of Marketing and International Business, Marco’s purpose of visit is to announce the start of the AVA INTER Milan Football Academy, which will be functional from June 1, at Hosur.  

He is quite knowledgeable, when it comes to Indian football - follows I-League, aware that a team from Bangalore has won the recently concluded I-League. Also, he is well informed about India Super League (ISL) as he was contacted last year, and he might take this opportunity to join ISL.  

Talking to the press, he opined that the development of the game will grow to be at par with cricket in India, and the initial steps have already been taken.  
“Looking at the smile of the kids at the stadium, the passion for football at the grassroots pretty apparent, it is important to carry on forward!” said the scorer of the FIFA 2006 World Cup final. 

And what are the chances of Italy in the FIFA WC in Brazil? 

“Not easy for my team, the first match against England is important for us. But then we are Italy, winner of four times FIFA World Cup champions, we’ll play to achieve the best!”, he adds, “So far no European team have won World Cup in Latin America, at least this has been the tradition, hopefully, we’ll break the tradition!” 

Speaking about Italy notoriety in the game inside the country, which had never affected their World Cup campaign so far. Quick comes a philosophical reply from the Azzurri. 

“When you are born, you come to the world with a dream, to play the World Cup, to win it, and so on. I might not even have the technical qualities like the other players that have won the World Cup, but I had a strong passion and commitment for the game, to win the World Cup. If there is passion, corruption, bad governance, etc., on does not influence the game!” 

Barbara Biggi, Head of Marketing and International Business who doubled up as Materazzi’s interpreter answered the question on how they are planning to make inroads to India, considering Football as a business in this country is not a viable choice. 

"We have no plans to create an Inter Milan team that would take part in ISL, like Atletico Madrid, but we have plans to create players for future.” 

“India is a sleeping giant, we know that football is taking a very important position in the country. We got a strong grassroots program, per UEFA ours is the best. Along with our partners, we would like to grow the level of grassroots here, and create and spread the passion for football in the country.” 

She adds, “We believe there is a good environment to invest sports for kids, spread the Inter-way  of playing football, and off course to increase out fan base, starting from Bangalore.”
