KSFA referee course

KSFA Referees Committee will be conducting a beginner's course for referees from July 10, 2022. This course is intended for fresher candidates who are interested in taking up a career in football referring. Classes will be conducted every Sunday between 10 AM and 1 PM at Bangalore Football Stadium, Ashoknagar, Bengaluru. After the classes, an entrance exam will be conducted in the last week of-August.

Two city-based referees qualify for National level

In a record of sorts, for the first time two women referees from the state have qualified as national referee.

Harsha Saini and Pooja have successfully cleared the written examination for category two upgradation held in Gwalior on January 11, 2022 according to an AIFF letter. Among men, Thobias Mervin and Bhagavat Sunder passed as Referee and Abhilash M Suresh qualified as Assistant Referee.

Harsha Saini and Pooja started their refereeing career in 2017. They cleared Project Future India course for referees in 2019 and attended Women's MA course for referees in 2020 and 2021. 

Both officiated in the Indian Women's League Qualifiers, I-League matches within state, Women's Super Division, A Division, Men's A, B, and C Division matches, and KSFA Youth League.

 

Karnataka Referees Committee to conduct referees' exam

The Referees Committee of KSFA will be conducting an entrance examination for football referees in November at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, Interested Candidates from Karnataka can register through the AIFF website - www.the-aiff.com.

Eligibility criteria 

• Minimum Qualification: SSLC (Tenth grade) pass
• Age limit: l8 to 28 years

Classes will commence from the first week of October onwards at Bangalore Football Stadium. Examination fees applicable

BDFA postpone Super Division League matches

If sources are to be believed, Karnataka State Referee Association officials did not turn up to officiate the BDFA Super Division league matches today at the Bangalore Football Stadium. This was a decision collectively taken by the referee’s association.

Kickstart were to take on ASC in the day’s first game and Young Challengers Vs MEG were to play the second game. 

Later, BDFA Chairman, Dr. SL Anthony, issued a note citing, “Citrus Ventures Super Division League matches are postponed due to unavoidable circumstances until further notice.” 

This decision to boycott the ongoing BDFA Super Division was prompted after yesterday’s game between FCBU and Bengaluru FC where the referees were at the receiving end with pushing and shoving by the club officials and rowdy fans. It all started when Bengaluru players served a series of protests to the referee owing to several decisions in the match that went against their favor. 

From organizing point of view, what was missing in yesterday’s game was the lack of security personnel around. When two top title contenders meet, tempers are bound to flare, and sometimes, it will get loud. 

Not so long ago, the game between Bangalore Independents and Bangalore Eagles was abandoned in the second half when the later team decided to walk-off owing to a wrong decision by the referee. 

Considering such incidents are nothing new in BDFA league, BDFA should have been alert by deploying few police security at the stadium. 

Yesterday, after the game got over, several supporters came down from the stand and it looked like a free-for-all battle. The presence of police could have handled the situation in a much-matured manner. 

With the league nearing completion (only 11 games left in Super Division), this stalemate will have a cascading effect on the lower divisions (A and B) that were scheduled to start after the closing of Super Division League.  

Karnataka gets FIFA Referee after a decade

Many must have seem him officiating as a linesman in the recently concluded ISL. After a decade, a football referee from the state has been promoted to the FIFA-level. 

National Football Referee from the Garden City, J Tony has been elevated to FIFA Assistant Referee. There were no FIFA Referees from the Karnataka state since last 10 years. 

Respective Presidents of the Karnataka State (KSFA) and Bangalore District Football Association (BDFA) wished him. Tony was also felicitated by the state Referees committee.  

[NOTICE] Referees Committee to conduct entrance and promotional exam

Referees Committee of Karnataka will be conducting an entrance and promotional examination at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday, December 20.

Interested candidates can walk in to attend the examination with original 10th Grade (SSLC) marks card and photograph.

Here’s the examination schedule:

• 7 am - physical fitness (Bangalore Football Stadium)
• 12 pm - theory written examination (West Wing, Bangalore Football Stadium)
