Roots Football School (RFS) will be representing Garden City in the final round of U13 Youth League. For the first time AIFF is conducting a National League for this age category. 70 teams took part in the U13 Youth League for which the pre-qualifying rounds were kicked-off in October last year.
RFS had a brilliant run in the Karnataka Zone qualifiers getting the better of heavyweights Bengaluru FC and Ozone FCB and maintaining an all-win record.
The final round comprising of eleven teams distributed in three groups will be playing at the various venues in Kolkata.
RFS is placed in Group C along with Chennaiyin Football Club, Sudeva Football Club, and Sports Authority of India (EZ). The matches will be played at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan Practice Ground, Salt Lake.
Group A comprises of Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools, Minerva Punjab FC, Aizawl, and, Reliance Foundation Young Champs and Group B - Mohammedan Sporting Club, Dempo Sports Club, and Shillong Lajong Football Club.

Roots Football School won their away match against Ozone Group FC by 4-0 in the AIFF U-13 India Youth League at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
Goals by Gambheer B (4) Rayaan Shakeer (23), Ngamminthang Kipgen (35), and R Neil Joseph (63) made it a comfortable win for Roots.
Roots FS, remain unbeaten in their first eight matches and continued to stay at the top of the Bengaluru zone of the Under 13 Youth League. Bengaluru zone has six teams playing on a home and away basis, to qualify for the national rounds.
Roots Football School won their home match against Ozone FC by a big margin of 5-1 in the AIFF U-13 Youth League at the Padukone-Dravid Center of Sports Excellence ground in Bengaluru.
Captain Rayaan Shakeer put Roots FS into the lead in the 4th minute from a free kick that beat the keeper. Pranav B doubled the lead in the 15th minute from a penalty kick, resulting out of a hand ball.
Karan Nair pulled one back for Ozone just before the half time. A few minutes into the second half Ozone conceded another hand ball off a corner, and Gautam Rajesh made no mistake in slotting it home.
Ebenezer Paul scored another goal in quick succession from a pass from Gambeer who made a good run to take the game away from Ozone. Kshitij Gupta completed the dominance with a brilliant solo run all the way from the defense line to goal, dribbling through half of the Ozone team.
The win puts Roots FS, unbeaten in the first three matches to the top of the Bengaluru Zone of the Under 13 Youth League that has six teams from Bangalore playing on a home and away basis.

It’s the start of the competitive season for Bengaluru FC Under-15s as they kick off their campaign in the 2017-18 edition of the U15 Youth League against Roots Football School at the Centre of Sports Excellence in Yelahanka on Friday, 27th October 2017.
Drawn in the Karnataka Zone, the Blues are grouped with five other city-based teams in Bangalore Youth Football League, Stadium Sports Foundation, Boca Juniors Soccer School and Ozone FA apart from Roots Football School.
Led by Ghanian coach Sadiq Abubakar, the Under-15s are based at the BFC Residential Academy in Bellary and have played a host of friendly games in Karnataka, Navi Mumbai and Goa preparation for the competition.
All the home games of the Under-15s will be played at the FSV Arena in Hennur, while the other teams will host their games Bangalore Football Stadium in Ashoknagar and the Centre of Sports Excellence in Yelahanka.
Meanwhile, newly formed BFC ‘B’ will also be in action in their first ever competitive tournament, when they take on Viva Chennai in the quarterfinal of the 12th G. V. Raja All India Football Tournament at the Chandrassekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala.
Organized by the Thiruvananthapuram District Football Association, the annual G. V. Raja Tournament kicked off on 23rd October, and features 12 teams from all over India. Led by Naushad Moosa, BFC ‘B’ left for Kerala on Wednesday, and are seeded directly into the quarterfinals, and will play their semifinal game on the Sunday 29th, if make it through to the last 4. The final is scheduled on 5th November.

In pursuit of creating a robust football structure across the length and breadth of the country, the AIFF is encouraging the Grassroots Football. As many as 206 teams will ply their trade across the three different age-group competitions this season which will kick-off in October 2017.
Teams from I-league, Indian Super League, Second Division League (as per last year only), Sports Authority of India and accredited academies under the AIFF Academy Accreditation Program are going to participate in the three separate Youth Leagues (U-13, U-15 and U-18 age-groups).
It'll be the first season of the U-13 Youth League while the U-15 Youth League will fall into its third season.
This is the first instance when the AIFF will implement the 'Homegrown' rule which signifies that each of the 206 teams has to register a minimum number of 6 homegrown players in the squad. A player who is born in the same state where the parent club is registered will be tagged as a 'Homegrown' player.
When 80 teams have already confirmed their participation in the U-15 age group, 70 and 56 teams will take part in the U-13 and U-18 Youth League respectively.
U-18 Youth League Qualifying round is scheduled to start in Chennai, Maharashtra, Kolkata and Delhi at a time on November 20, 2017.
Having the pre-qualifying rounds for U-15 and U-13 Youth League already kicked off in New Delhi, the U-15 and U-13 Youth League qualifying rounds are scheduled to start on October 26, 2017 and October 28,2017 respectively.
Roots Football School will hold selections trials for goalkeepers and strikers for its Under 15 team on Friday, July 28, 4.30 pm at St. John's Medical College C ground, Koramangala.
They are only looking players for in goalkeeper and striker position.
Interested players are requested to bring original birth certificate, identity proof, and photograph along with them for trials.

55 teams started their journey in the U-16 Youth League this season across the nation for the 16 coveted berths in the National Finals which will be played in mid-January, 2017. Nine teams have been finalized until now from seven zones and others are still fighting out of their skin to grab the remaining slots.
Shillong Lajong FC and Royal Wahingdoh FC, the cross-city rivals from Shillong, have proved to be too strong for the other teams in the Shillong-Guwahati zone and they have already booked their berths in the National Finals.
Kenkre FC, having been drubbed by the other teams in the last edition, have come back strongly to make a strong statement this season. The Mumbai-based club have gathered 15 points from 6 matches and they’re going to represent the Maharashtra zone in the National Finals along with DSK Shivajians FC, who had a stupendous run in the zonal round. The Pune outfit have outplayed their counterparts completely, having smacked 36 goals in 6 matches and gathering all possible 18 points from them.
Although the last round of matches are still yet to be played in the Kolkata zone, the Mariners have shrugged off the last-year debacle and they’re already in the next round, thanks to their exuberant run in the zonal round where they have registered 6 wins and 3 draws so far. United Sports Club (17), Mohammedan Sporting Club (15) and Kingfisher East Bengal (12) are vying for the last spot available in the Kolkata zone. Their fates will be decided on December 10 when the Black Panthers will lock their horns with the Mariners and United SC play against the Sports Authority of India team. On the same day, Kingfisher East Bengal take on Southern Samity, who are already out of the tournament.
Sudeva Football Club completely outplayed the other teams in the Delhi zone and thanks to their 100% winning spree, they are going to represent the Delhi zone in the National Finals.
Undoubtedly, Ozone Group FC youngsters have proven to be the most brutal group on the pitch who netted 36 goals over 6 matches and didn’t concede a single goal. Other three teams were completely ousted and their performance have gone haywire against Ozone Group FC.
Redstar Football Academy held their nerves to grab the sole berth from the Kerala zone. Albeit Prodigy Sports were also running neck-to-neck with them, the Thrissur-based club finally claimed the solitary berth from the southernmost state of the Nation.
The Blues from Bengaluru have plied their trade from the Rest of India I zone and ousted the Goan powerhouses to snatch the only spot from the zone.
Pride Sports have sealed the sole spot from the Rest of India II zone which was staged in Gandhinagar.
Rest of India III is still going on in Imphal and the matches of the Rest of India IV group is slated to start in New Delhi on December 14, 2016.

In what is a balanced representation of Teams from all over India, the second edition of the U-16 Youth League scheduled to kick-off in September 2016 will feature 50 odd Teams battling for the top honours. This comes after the grand success of the inaugural edition where 39 Teams had participated last season.
Speaking to www.the-aiff.com, Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League indicated about growing interest amongst the Academies and the Clubs. “That’s the aspect which we are looking for,” he said. “Last season 39 Teams had competed in the Youth League but the number has jumped to 50 this season, which is more than overwhelming,” he added.
AIFF Technical Director Scott O’Donell maintained the magic mark of 50 showed the “positive intent.”
"Reaching the magic figure of 50 in the second year of the U-16 Youth League shows the positive intent among the Clubs and private Academies. They deserve due credit for their untiring effort towards building up the Teams,” he said in a chat to www.the-aiff.com.
Complementing O’Donell, Dhar further stated that “it only reflects the increasing level of the interest among the kids towards the ‘Beautiful game.’ All India Football Federation has always aimed in broad-basing the game and this shows we are on the right track.”
“Playing competitive Football is a big part of a young Player’s development. The U-16 Youth League will give the Players (and Coaches) the opportunity to test themselves against Teams from other States. The first edition of the U-15 Youth League was a huge success and it is great to see even more Teams expressing their interest,” O’Donell opined.
The inaugural edition saw Minerva Academy FC overwhelming Royal Wahingdoh FC in the high-octane final in Goa to conquer the silverware.
The League which has conceptualised as the U-15 Youth League has been rechristened to U-16 Youth League keeping the forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 in mind.
Perhaps the most significant aspect stays the participation of three Teams from Kashmir. After LoneStar Kashmir’s success, Jammu and Kashmir Bank and Real Kashmir have also enrolled them for the U-16 Youth League, thus making it to three Teams from the State.
“I can’t recollect three Teams from Kashmir playing in a National Tournament -- and this is U-16 Youth League. We welcome Teams from all nook and corners in the League. This League itself is in a League of its own,” Dhar commented.
Another notable feature has been the keenness to participate from Gujarat, the home State of India’s Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. Sports Authority of Gujarat and Kahaani FC will flaunt the colours of Gujarat in the U-16 Youth League this season.
Besides, the State of Kerala has also strengthened its presence in the league as three more Teams are going to join the contingent along with Kovalam FC from God's own Country. Prodigy FA, who have passed the Academy Accreditation Test with flying colours will be joined by SEPT FA and Red Star FC.
