Bangalore City FC win B Division League title, Roots FS take second spot

Bangalore City FC’s fine six-match winning run was enough to clinch the BDFA B Division League title and a promotion spot. Though they received a jolt by losing to the league runner up Roots FS in their last game but that didn't come in their way of the league title. 

Goans FC did not turn up for their matches and RS Sports pulled out after playing 6 rounds (loosing all) – both teams are relegated to C Division. As per BDFA League (2022-23) Rules 16, result of matches played against R S Sports stand Null and Void. 

Roots FS took the field against Bangalore City FC’s in their last round game. The equation was simple, an outright win would earn them the second position, ahead of Royals FC and Bangalore Warriors, and a spot in BDFA A Division.

In the game between Roots and Bangalore City, the latter dominated the proceedings, took lead 8-minutes before regulation time. Roots looked anything but winning the game from there.

The drama unfolded in the final 5 minutes of the game, which was primarily the injury time. Roots were awarded a penalty at the beginning of the added time, which went wasted. An own goal by Bangalore City in 70’+4‘ min made the score level. It was left to Roots scoring the winning goal in the last minute thus securing a promotion ticket to the BDFA A Division.  

BDFA B Division will be concluded tomorrow after the following games: Bangalore City FC Vs CIL and Bangalore Warriors Vs Al Fateh FC. 

If Bangalore Warriors wins tomorrow, they will be tied at same points with Roots FS, however the latter would still be above Bangalore Warriors in the points table with a Head-to-Head win (3-2). 

The top two teams in the Points Table, Bangalore City FC and Roots FC, will be playing an exhibition game tomorrow before the prize distribution ceremony.

Roots FC to make debut in BDFA Super Division League

With thirteen years of existence, Roots Football School, one of the premier football academies in the Garden City is advancing up as a senior team in city’s premier football division. 

There are very few opportunities for footballers in the age group of 18 to 22 unless one makes it to I-League or ISL. Keeping few fundamental beliefs in place to take a bottom-up approach aiming Karnataka football forward and the youth of Karnataka deserving a genuine shot at a big league, Roots management has decided to launch a team for the BDFA Super Division. 

Roots Football academy has grown from six trainees and two coaches at a single centre in 2009, to 25 coaches and 1,500+ kids at 12 centres all around Bengaluru. 

More than participating in the BDFA Super Division League, Roots Football Club is setting on to provide a platform for the big take-off for young footballers from the state. With team’s average age being 21.2 years, the squad boasts of 21 players from Karnataka. The team is coached by Srikanth Rajan and assisted by Sunil Kurup, both AFC B License holders who are confident of displaying an entertaining possession-based football. 

Roots FC has made a fair bit of progress in promoting women’s soccer. Their women’s programme started two years ago, and the team has qualified for the Women’s Super-Division this season. The women’s team is coached by Arokianath Robin.

Roots Football trounce Sai Sports in KSFA Women’s A Division League

Roots Football School girls drubbed Sai Sports Academy 5-1 in their second game in KSFA Women’s A Division League. Coming from a draw in their first game, Roots took an early lead, they were 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the game but kept attacking opponent’s defence with no success. 

Sai Sports Academy won their first match against GRK Girls FC. In today's game, their only goal arrived after the first-half water break against the run of play when Shayana zipped past Roots’ defence. 

Roots Football School came back as a much-organized team in the later half. Sanjana scored her second goal, followed one each by Deviyani and Zayana. 

Sharavya with her tireless effort grabbed the Player of the Match. 

 

Women's A Division Football League 2021-22 to kick off today

The KSFA Women’s A Division football league started today at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Modern Girls FC, winners of the Sports Planet Trophy earlier in the season along with debutants Bengaluru FC are part of the 8 team league.

Sai Sports Academy and GRK Girls FC played the first match of the league. In a high scoring game, Sai Sports got the better of GRK. The match ended in 4-2 in favour of the Sai Sports girls with Shayna scoring a hattrick.

Bengaluru boy Shreyas makes his way to the India U-19 set-up

Little did Shreyas Ketkar know that a trip to a football ground in Bengaluru a little over a decade ago would transform his life forever. So drawn was he to the game of football that was being played that he decided to make the sport his own. Since then, Ketkar has taken massive strides on the football field. Today, the FC Bengaluru United midfielder is all set to practice with the India U-19 squad, as and when on ground training sessions resume. 

Shreyas is undoubtedly "excited" at the opportunity and hopes this will be a step forward towards his ultimate goal. "I am very excited to train with the India U-19 squad, but my goal is to not only play for the India U-19 team but to definitely play for the Indian Senior Team one day. However, I have to take one step at a time. Hopefully, I can do well here and eventually move into the Senior Team. My immediate goal is to make it to the India U-19 squad for the U-19 AFC Cup in 2022." He got his first taste of the I-League (Senior Teams) when he played for FC Bengaluru United from October 2020 to January 2021. Shortly after playing for Bengaluru United in the second division last year, Ketkar impressed the selectors during the trials held by first division I-League team Indian Arrows and moved to the side on loan.

Shreyas is quick to acknowledge the role of the "coaches and staff and players" at FC Bengaluru United in helping him grow and learn as a player. "They [the coaches] gave a chance to everyone, even young players like me. We got a chance to play and compete in the second division. I learnt a lot about the game in a different way," says the 17-year old. "The training is very different at FCBU. It's intense and we have to be focused, disciplined and switched on all the time. It helps you to keep your focus. The coaches are always there to help, and the players can speak to them anytime about their games. One can go and have a chat with them about how to improve as a player," he added. 

Shreyas has already achieved many milestones in his budding career. They include winning the Khelo India Youth Games in 2019 as Captain of the Karnataka team and being Karnataka State Captain for U-14, U-16 and U-17 sides. The young midfielder has seamlessly moved up the ranks of Indian football and now is all geared up for a crack at the international stage.

 

Boca lift U14 KSFA Youth Premier League title, Bengaluru FC boys complete sweep with U12 title

Bengaluru FC U12 side bagged the KSFA Youth Premier League title with a 3-0 win against Roots Football Schools, joining the U8s and U10s as Champions of their respective age groups in the competition, at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, on Sunday. 

Earlier, Boca (Yellow) Juniors India convoncingly beat FAB 3-0 to win the U14 KSFA Youth Premier League title. 

Yesterday, in the U17 age category final, Stadium FC defeated Bangalore Soccer Galaxy with a same margin of 3-0. 

The U8 and U10 age category got completed few weeks back with Bengaluru FC grabbing both the caregory.

Bangalore Soccer Galaxy and Stadium FC make it to the final of U17 KSFA Youth League

With the completion of BDFA Super Division League and Karnataka Women’s League Super Division early this week, the KSFA Youth Premier League too is coming to the business end. 

Knockout action took place yesterday with the one U14 and both U17 semifinals played at the Bangalore Football Stadium. The other U14 semifinal game and both U12 semifinals will be played today at the same venue. 

U10 final too took place yesterday at the FSV Arena where in a hard-fought match Bengaluru FC Academy boy defeated BCFC Magic 1-0.

Roots Football School lift KSFA Youth Premier League 2019 U15, FAB win U13 category

Roots Football School became champions of the inaugural season of Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) organized Youth Premier League Under 15 category, meanwhile Football Academy Of Bangalore – FAB, after winning all their league matches won the Under 13 category. 

At the end of the 3 month long league, Roots Football School remained unbeaten to finish top with 23 points from 9 matches, with 7 wins and 2 draws. 

It was a must win last round match against a strong Boca Juniors side at the Bangalore Football Stadium on last Sunday. Boca went ahead by a goal from Elvis in the 39th minute of the game. Yohan Victor quickly squared up for Roots in 42nd minute. Finally, Vishal R scored the winning goal for Roots in the 67th minute.

KSFA Youth Premier League 2019

Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) kicked off the inaugural KSFA Youth Premier League, an inter-academy football tournament for under 13 and 15 age group, last Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Bangalore Football Stadium. 

With Bengaluru being a hub of youth development and the city-based youth teams doing reasonably well at national level, a proper city/state league was much needed. 

This league is approved by AIFF and consists of 10 teams playing in two categories played on weekends and public holidays, and will go on till September. This league will be played in Round Robin format, where each team would be playing 9 round of games.

Roots FS wins against Sporthood in Hero Sub-Junior League opener

Roots Football School started their season with a 6-1 win in their first home match against SportHood in the Hero Sub-Junior League at the Padukone-Dravid Center of Sports Excellence.

Gavin Rasquinha scored the first goal for Roots FS off a free kick in the fourth minute. Leo Saiju equalized within few minutes later. Samrudh Sharan tapped in a cross from Riki to restore the lead for Roots. Gavin went on to complete a hat trick in the first half, and added another to his tally in the second half. Agasthyaa Thakur scored in the dying moments to make it six for Roots.

Roots Football School kick-off U13 Youth League Final Round campaign tomorrow

Roots Football School (RFS) will be representing Garden City in the final round of U13 Youth League. For the first time AIFF is conducting a National League for this age category. 70 teams took part in the U13 Youth League for which the pre-qualifying rounds were kicked-off in October last year. 

RFS had a brilliant run in the Karnataka Zone qualifiers getting the better of heavyweights Bengaluru FC and Ozone FCB and maintaining an all-win record. 

The final round comprising of eleven teams distributed in three groups will be playing at the various venues in Kolkata. 

RFS is placed in Group C along with Chennaiyin Football Club, Sudeva Football Club, and Sports Authority of India (EZ). The matches will be played at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan Practice Ground, Salt Lake. 

Group A comprises of Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools, Minerva Punjab FC, Aizawl, and, Reliance Foundation Young Champs and Group B - Mohammedan Sporting Club, Dempo Sports Club, and Shillong Lajong Football Club.

U13 Youth League: Roots defeat Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC boys tasted their first defeat in their U13 Youth League (Bangalore Zone) campaign by Roots Sports School. Playing home, at the Bangalore Football Stadium today morning, BFC boys went down by an early goal from Gabriel Savage. 

Maintaining an all-win record (9 wins, 27 pts), Roots Football School continue to stay at the top of the table, and only need a point to qualify to the final round. Bengaluru have played two games less, they are on second spot with 18 pts from 7 games. They must win their remaining matches to top the table. 

Both teams meet again on Sunday, Jan 28, 3 PM, in BFC’s away encounter at Padukone Dravid Center For Sports Excellence, Yelahanka. 

U13 Youth League: Roots Football beat Ozone again

Roots Football School won their away match against Ozone Group FC by 4-0 in the AIFF U-13 India Youth League at the Bangalore Football Stadium. 

Goals by Gambheer B (4) Rayaan Shakeer (23), Ngamminthang Kipgen (35), and R Neil Joseph (63) made it a comfortable win for Roots.

Roots FS, remain unbeaten in their first eight matches and continued to stay at the top of the Bengaluru zone of the Under 13 Youth League. Bengaluru zone has six teams playing on a home and away basis, to qualify for the national rounds.    

U15 Youth League: Bengaluru FC down Roots Football school 3-0

Bengaluru FC bounced back to winning ways in the U15 Youth League after a dominant 3-0 victory over Roots Football School at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Thursday.

Having dropped points in the previous round against Bengaluru zone leaders Ozone FC (15 pts), the youngsters kept pace with their rivals in the standings taking their tally to 12 points from five games, three behind the table toppers.

After an entertaining battle in the opening half hour, the Blue Colts finally broke the deadlock when medio Lalrokima ran free on an aerial ball before controlling and slotting it home from close range in the 33rd minute. The home side then made superior possession count in the second half with both striker Francis Vanlaldika (53rd) and Abhinav AR (78th) getting on the scoresheet to round off a 3-0 win.

U15 Youth League: Big margin win for Roots Football School

Roots Football School had a comfortable 9-0 win in their AIFF U-15 Youth League away match against Soccer Stadium at the FSV arena in Bengaluru. 

Uzen Chhoizang put Roots FS into the lead in the 11th minute with a left footed floater that slipped through the keepers’ hand. Roshan Singh scored a brace in quick succession with a powerful long range strike in the 33rd minute and another tap in from a cross off a free kick to take Roots to a 3-0 lead at half time. 

The second half saw Roots FS converting their dominance into goals with Raghav Maheshwaran (46'), followed by Amogavarsha G (57'). Substitutes Mohammed Ashik (59') and Nikshep Grampurohit (65' & 83') came off the bench to score, while Thanush Kumar (85') scored to give Roots an easy outing.

BFC colts begin U15 Youth League against Roots Football School

It’s the start of the competitive season for Bengaluru FC Under-15s as they kick off their campaign in the 2017-18 edition of the U15 Youth League against Roots Football School at the Centre of Sports Excellence in Yelahanka on Friday, 27th October 2017. 

Drawn in the Karnataka Zone, the Blues are grouped with five other city-based teams in Bangalore Youth Football League, Stadium Sports Foundation, Boca Juniors Soccer School and Ozone FA apart from Roots Football School.

Led by Ghanian coach Sadiq Abubakar, the Under-15s are based at the BFC Residential Academy in Bellary and have played a host of friendly games in Karnataka, Navi Mumbai and Goa preparation for the competition.

All the home games of the Under-15s will be played at the FSV Arena in Hennur, while the other teams will host their games Bangalore Football Stadium in Ashoknagar and the Centre of Sports Excellence in Yelahanka.

Meanwhile, newly formed BFC ‘B’ will also be in action in their first ever competitive tournament, when they take on Viva Chennai in the quarterfinal of the 12th G. V. Raja All India Football Tournament at the Chandrassekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala.

Organized by the Thiruvananthapuram District Football Association, the annual G. V. Raja Tournament kicked off on 23rd October, and features 12 teams from all over India. Led by Naushad Moosa, BFC ‘B’ left for Kerala on Wednesday, and are seeded directly into the quarterfinals, and will play their semifinal game on the Sunday 29th, if make it through to the last 4. The final is scheduled on 5th November. 

206 teams to participate in U-13, U-15 and U-18 Youth League

In pursuit of creating a robust football structure across the length and breadth of the country, the AIFF is encouraging the Grassroots Football. As many as 206 teams will ply their trade across the three different age-group competitions this season which will kick-off in October 2017.

Teams from I-league, Indian Super League, Second Division League (as per last year only), Sports Authority of India and accredited academies under the AIFF Academy Accreditation Program are going to participate in the three separate Youth Leagues (U-13, U-15 and U-18 age-groups).

It'll be the first season of the U-13 Youth League while the U-15 Youth League will fall into its third season.

This is the first instance when the AIFF will implement the 'Homegrown' rule which signifies that each of the 206 teams has to register a minimum number of 6 homegrown players in the squad. A player who is born in the same state where the parent club is registered will be tagged as a 'Homegrown' player.

When 80 teams have already confirmed their participation in the U-15 age group, 70 and 56 teams will take part in the U-13 and U-18 Youth League respectively.

U-18 Youth League Qualifying round is scheduled to start in Chennai, Maharashtra, Kolkata and Delhi at a time on November 20, 2017.

Having the pre-qualifying rounds for U-15 and U-13 Youth League already kicked off in New Delhi, the U-15 and U-13 Youth League qualifying rounds are scheduled to start on October 26, 2017 and October 28,2017 respectively.

U-15 Youth League selection trials - Roots Football School

Roots Football School will hold selections trials for goalkeepers and strikers for its Under 15 team on Friday, July 28, 4.30 pm at St. John's Medical College C ground, Koramangala. 

They are only looking players for in goalkeeper and striker position. 

Interested players are requested to bring original birth certificate, identity proof, and photograph along with them for trials.
