Kickstart maintains winning streak after thumping win over Sirvodem

Kickstart maintain their winning streak as they hand Sirvodem a second consecutive defeat after a dominant 7-0 win in the Hero Indian Women’s League at the Capital Ground on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. 

The Karnataka-based side made a quick and dominating start as they scored as many as three goals within the first quarter of the game. Winger Kaviya opened the scoring on the 6th minute, followed by an own goal from Sirvodem defender Sharda a couple of minutes later. Kaviya once again bagged a goal contribution as her inch-perfect cross on the 12th minute was finely tapped in by Kiranbala. 

Kaviya ran riots along the right-wing forcing the Sirvodem defence to stumble with the latter’s goalkeeper Afsan Ashiq fumbling frequently. The goal shower continued with forward Roja Devi perfectly utilising the Sirvodem custodian’s howler to increase the lead to 4-0 within the 17th minute.  

Kickstart kept a large proportion of the possession all through the game with their continued domination, rattling the Goan side. Babysana pulled the strings from the midfield as the Karnataka-based side orchestrated waves of attacks, one of which led Prameshwori Irom to score the fifth goal on the 25th minute.

Minutes before the halftime break, Indian international Roja Devi earned a brace for herself as she found the back of the net, making it a six-goal lead for Kickstart FC, going into the breather.

Changing over, Sirvodem came out with a lot more intent and held their shape for large parts of the game. They kept their opponents at bay, preventing Kickstart from scoring more until substitute Lawmching found the net with less than 10 minutes of regulation time left on the clock.

With this win, Kickstart climb to second on the Hero IWL table with six points from two matches, and a goal difference of nine.

Kickstart take on debutant PIFA Sports FC in Hero IWL tomorrow

Seasoned contestants Kickstart FC will face off Maharashtra-based side PIFA Sports FC tomorrow, April 15, 2022, who will mark their debut in the fifth edition of the Hero Indian Women’s League (HIWL). 

The Kickstart gaffer Amrutha Aravind Valliyath sounded quite calm and confident ahead of their first game of the season.

Aravind clearly voiced their wish to fight for the championship, “Preparations are almost done for this year's title. We have a balanced side, and we will do our best for this year's championship”.

When asked about their game plan against PIFA the head coach said, “We are looking for an attacking style of play and we want a positive result”. 

The Karnataka league champions eyes to “take each game as a challenge” and work as “one team one dream". 

The game will kick off at 3:30 pm (IST) at the Capital Stadium, Odisha and the match will be live streamed on the Indian Football YouTube page. 

 

Indian Womens League to kick-off on April 15 in Bhubaneswar

The Hero Indian Women’s League is all set for a return in the 2021-22 season, as it will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from April 15 onwards.

This season’s Hero IWL will feature 12 teams that will fight it out for the top prize in Indian Women’s Football, and will fight it out in a league format from April 15 to May 26, with the champions of the tournament getting the chance to play in the next edition of the AFC Women’s Club Championship. The matches will be played at the Kalinga Stadium, the Seventh Battalion Ground and the Capital Ground.

Defending Champions Gokulam Kerala FC, who also join the league as the champions of Kerala, will also be joined by the champion teams from 10 other states – Odisha Police (Odisha), Hans Women FC (Delhi), Kickstart FC Karnataka (Karnataka), Gokulam Kerala FC (Kerala), Sethu Madurai (Tamil Nadu), PIFA Sports Colaba FC (Maharashtra), Mata Rukmani FC (Chhattisgarh), Sirvodem Sports Club (Goa), Indian Arrows (AIFF’s Developmental Team), SSB Women FC (West Bengal), Sports Odisha (Odisha), and one club from the Hero IWL Qualifiers.

The qualifiers of the Hero IWL will take place in New Delhi from April 1 to 5, where four clubs – Guwahati City FC, Golazo FC, ARA FC, and YWC will fight it out at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi, in a round robin format with the top team proceeding to the tournament proper.

“It’s great that we are being able to have the Hero IWL once again, and that too in Odisha, a state that has so closely been linked with Indian football over the past,” said AIFF Leagues and Development CEO Mr Sunando Dhar. “We will have the Hero IWL in a league format this time, which will allow the clubs to play more number of matches, and the champions teams from all the states will be fighting it out for the top prize.”

“We will also have the qualifiers for the Hero IWL in New Delhi, and that will further help the other teams from other states get the opportunity to participate in the league as well,” he further stated. “We wish the all the clubs the very best in their endeavours.”

The Hero IWL proper will also be played in a round robin format, with every team playing each other once. The team that finishes their respective 11 matches with the highest number of points will be declared the winners of the Hero IWL 2021-22 season.

Bengaluru FC girls picked up their second win of the KSFA Women’s ‘A’ Division League campaign with a 3-0 win over PASS FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Goals from Chinmayi Tili (6’). Nandini (15’) and Ruthu (65’) were enough to see BFC cruise to victory.

The Blues started the game brightly under the lights and scored with their first shot on target, inside five minutes. Shloka Krishna dragged the defenders wide and then played the ball through to Chinmayi, who slotted past Bhoomika in the PASS goal to make it 1-0. 

The young winger continued to be a threat down the left flank and won a penalty for the Blues after her cross clipped the arm of a Pass FC defender only ten minutes later. Nandini stepped up and scored her fourth goal of the tournament and made it 2-0 in the first 15 minutes.

Bengaluru FC continued to use the flanks to their advantage and kept creating chances through the wings with Chinmayi and Annika Srivastava. 

Into the second period, Bengaluru pushed forward in a bid to add to their tally but attempts from Nandini and Tanvi failed to find the target. Shloka had a chance to add her name to the scoresheet, but the striker was unable to apply the finish to a cross from Nandini. 

Levanah Samuel’s side found their third goal just past the hour mark when a defensive lapse allowed Sanjana Makam to drive a cross into a dangerous area. Bhoomika’s spill fell to Ruthu Sreenandan, who finished from close range to make it 3-0. 

PASS FC made inroads late in the game, but the Bengaluru defence did well to cut away the danger while Karnika Karthick stood stubborn in goal to make a series of fine saves. 

 

Roots Football trounce Sai Sports in KSFA Women’s A Division League

Roots Football School girls drubbed Sai Sports Academy 5-1 in their second game in KSFA Women’s A Division League. Coming from a draw in their first game, Roots took an early lead, they were 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the game but kept attacking opponent’s defence with no success. 

Sai Sports Academy won their first match against GRK Girls FC. In today's game, their only goal arrived after the first-half water break against the run of play when Shayana zipped past Roots’ defence. 

Roots Football School came back as a much-organized team in the later half. Sanjana scored her second goal, followed one each by Deviyani and Zayana. 

Sharavya with her tireless effort grabbed the Player of the Match. 

 

Bengaluru FC girls score a perfect 10 in KSFA Women’s ‘A’ Division

Bengaluru FC’s U15 Girls side marked their first ever win in style with a 10-0 defeat of GRK Girls FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Thursday. Striker Nandini, who also captained the side on the day, grabbed a hat-trick, as five other players found their name on the scoresheet.

The Blues controlled possession early on and almost found the opener when Nandini found herself in the 18-yard-box, but her effort rattled the crossbar and bounced back into play. Only moments later, Shloka Krishna found the opener for the Blues after a scramble in the box saw the ball fall perfectly for the forward who tapped home from close range. 

Things went from bad to worse for the GRK Girls as Nandini doubled the lead two minutes after the opener. Gliding past the opponents and carrying the ball through on goal, Nandini drove a shot past Aishwarya Gowda in goal to make it 2-0. 

The BFC Girls made it 3-0 shortly after when Tanvi Nair took advantage of an indirect free-kick in the box and smashed past the ‘keeper. The goals kept coming as Nandini picked up her second goal of the game right before the break, shooting from distance once again to make it 4-0.  

Into the second half, the Blues refused to relent as Nandini squeezed a shot past the GRK goalkeeper to score her third of the evening. Bengaluru FC were sitting in a comfortable position before bringing on Hasvika Sridharan, Anwita Raghuraman, Saisha Chawla and Aabha Kudale with forty minutes on the clock. 

Moments after coming on, Hasvika found herself in the right place at the right time after a shot from Aabha rebounded off the ‘keeper and fell kindly for the defender, who passed it into the back of the net to make it 6-0. 

Hungry for more, the BFC girls kept the ball in the opponent's half and dominated possession. Rheanna Liz Jacob’s cross from the right flank fell kindly for Saisha, who took a touch and scored to make it 7-0. 

Bengaluru would score three more times in the last ten minutes, as goals from Hasvika, Anvika and Saisha meant a 10-0 win for the girls, in what was their first ever win.

The BFC U15 Girls have four more games to play in the KSFA Women’s ‘A’ Division League.

Modern Girls beat debutant Bengaluru FC 2-0

Bengaluru FC went down 2-0 to Modern Girls FC in their first ever clash, in the KSFA Women’s ‘A’ Division League, at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Tuesday. First-half goals from M Priyadarshini and Aishwarya Rathore settled the tie in favor of Modern Girls, who held fort at the back to thwart Bengaluru’s attempts to find a way back.

The Blues held possession for the first ten minutes and even found themselves through on goal when Annika Srivastava had only the goalkeeper to beat but chose to make a pass which was too short for Shloka Krishna. Modern Girls turned it up a notch and punished the BFC backline after Priyadarshini found herself through on goal and slotted past Karnika Karthick to take the lead in the 11th minute.    

Bengaluru FC conceded a corner only moments later and found themselves two goals down when Simran Bhargava converted past Karnika from close range to make it 2-0 with twenty minutes left to play in the first period. 

BFC U15 Girls Head Coach Levanah Samuel made changes at the break as Nandini and Ruthu Sreenandhan came off the bench. Nandini added impetus to the Blues' attack, carrying the ball down the wing. Ten minutes into the second half, her effort from distance tested Modern 'keeper Aruni Singh, but wasn't enough to reduce the deficit.

The chances started coming for the Blues as Nandini found herself in the thick of things again and attempted a shot from distance on the hour mark, but her effort was just wide. The Blues pushed forward in search of a goal but fell short in the attacking third as the referee blew his whistle to bring an end to proceedings.

The BFC U15 Girls are next in action when they take on G.R.K Girls FC at the same venue, on Thursday.

Women's A Division Football League 2021-22 to kick off today

The KSFA Women’s A Division football league started today at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Modern Girls FC, winners of the Sports Planet Trophy earlier in the season along with debutants Bengaluru FC are part of the 8 team league.

Sai Sports Academy and GRK Girls FC played the first match of the league. In a high scoring game, Sai Sports got the better of GRK. The match ended in 4-2 in favour of the Sai Sports girls with Shayna scoring a hattrick.

Lightning first half display helps Kickstart beat Bengaluru FC and keep them in title contention

Kickstart FC’s four first half goals were enough to see pick up all three points, in a BDFA Super Division encounter at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Tuesday. Goals from Ankith P (12’), Solaimalai (33’, 45’) and Princewill Olariche (42’) saw Kickstart get off to a flying start. The Blue Colts managed to score twice in the second half but it would count for nothing. Macarton Nickson (47’) and Robin Yadav (89’) got on the scoresheet for Bengaluru FC.  

It was Ankith’s in the 12th minute of the game who found himself in a great position during Kickstart FC’s first attack of the game, and managed to get a shot off his right foot to send the ball past Dipesh Chauhan in goal. Bengaluru FC kept pressing for the equaliser but their efforts were futile after Solaimalai’s initial shot was saved, but the rebound fell kindly to the same player only for him to curl it past Dipesh in goal to double the lead in the 33rd minute. 

The Blue Colts struggled to find their rhythm which resulted in Kickstart FC capitalising and scoring two more in the last five minutes of the game. Princewill Olariche scored KFC’s third of the afternoon after putting his laces through the ball on the volley and burying into the bottom corner. It went from bad to worse for the Blues as Solaimalai scored his second goal of the game in the dying minutes of the first half after finding himself in the right place at the right time in the box and booting it into the roof of the net from close range. 

The Blue Colts came out a different team in the second half and were on the attack from the get go. Bengaluru FC scored within the first two minutes of the second half after a beautifully threaded through ball from Thoi Singh found Macarton Nickson who made the perfect run to stay onside to find himself in a 1v1 position with the goalkeeper. 

The forward kept his cool and slotted it past Jayanthkumar Krishnamurthy to make it 4-1. Macarton made all the right noise after coming on in the second half creating multiple chances for the Blue Colts. The BFC number ten found himself through on goal again in the 80th minute and was brought down by the goalkeeper, but the referee chose to wave on play. Bengaluru did get a penalty awarded to them a minute from time, that Robin Yadav converted to make it 4-2.

FCBU thrash ADE, remains favorite to retain BDFA Super Division title

Defending champions ended their BDFA Super Division 2021-22 in empathic style, with a 6-0 victory over ADE in their final game of the campaign. Ronaldo Oliviera (7, 58), James Singh (43), Asrar Rehbar (68) Nihal Colaco (83, 91) were the goal scorers for the defending champions, who ended the tournament as table toppers – a position they have held from the start of the tournament.

Both teams started off slowly under sunny skies but it was FCBU who opened their account in the 7th minute. A well-crafted pass from Anup from the left wing allowed for an easy tap in for Oliveira to get on the scoreboard. Both sides struggled to pick up the pace after FCBU’s initial onslaught – the shackles were finally broken in the 43rd minute with Anup in the thick of things once again.  Anup’s corner was taken by Denil Rebello – his shot on goal was deflected but James was quick to seize the opportunity to get FCBU 2-0 up.

FCBU picked up the pace in the second half, looking far more positive and aggressive in creating opportunities. In the 58th minute, Asrar’s low ball on goal was cleared by the ADE defender only to see Ronaldo make the most of the opportunity and get FCBU up 3-0. Ten minutes later, Asraf Mondal’s free kick was capitalized on by Asrar as FCBU galloped to 4-0.

In the 83rd minute, Nihal was brought down in the box and the young striker didn’t waste the chance to convert the penalty. Lining up to take the shot, he powered it in with pin-point precision to get FCBU to 5-0.  And within a matter of minutes, Nihal had notched up his second goal of the tournament - spotting a Chelston Pinto header coming in, he set himself up to fire the header in to the back of the goal, putting in the finishing touches on what was a commanding victory for FC Bengaluru United.  

With this win, FCBU have retained their position as table toppers – a position they held right from the start of the tournament – as well as being the side to have conceded the lowest goals in the tournament thus far. With 52 goals scored, FCBU have bettered the 2018-19 record for most goals scored in the tournament. An emphatic performance from the defending champions, who have remained undefeated right through, underlining their complete dominance over the tournament.

 

United play out goalless draw with Jawahar Union

FC Bengaluru United were held to a 0-0 draw by Jawahar Union in the ongoing BDFA Super Division League 2021-22. While FCBU played attacking football and had a few chances, they failed to convert any of them.

The defending champions began aggressively, taking control of possession right away. FCBU looked to create openings and attack while JU looked content to sit back and play the defensive game. This was the trend that continued right through the first half. One of the attacking plays by FCBU was a corner taken by Asraf Mondal that was successfully dealt with by the JU defence - this in turn was volleyed by Batskhemlang Thangkhiew only to have it blocked by the JU defence again.

The second half mirrored the first half – try as they might, FCBU were unable to penetrate the JU defence and close any of their attempts. Some of their closest chances came in the dying minutes of the game, a cross from Subash Singh on the right set up a clear shot for Luka Majcen, only to see the Slovenian miss an easy header chance; Denil Rebello’s powerful shot on goal was blocked by the JU goalkeeper.

Attacker Thoi Singh put on a show at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Monday, as his Bengaluru FC side ran out 4-0 winners over Bangalore United FC, in the BDFA Super Division League. While Thoi found his name on the scoresheet twice, Monirul Molla and Omega Vanlalhruaitluanga added two more to seal the points for the Blue Colts.

The Blue Colts started the game on the front foot, creating chances aplenty in the early stages. The opening goal came only ten minutes in, when the ball fell kindly to Thoi in the box and his low driven shot had too much on it for BUFC custodian Nishit Nair to handle as it slipped through his grasp to give the Blue Colts the lead. 

Bengaluru continued to pile the pressure and almost doubled their lead when Harpreet Singh nodded the ball home from a well worked set-piece, only for it to be ruled offside. Soon after, Thoi was found in the box by Rakesh Likmabam whose low cross was converted by the winger on the bounce to make it 2-0 in the 33rd minute. 

Thoi continued to impress, turning provider when he ran past a number of BUFC defenders down the left flank before sending in an inch-perfect cross for Molla, who finished with aplomb at the stroke of half time. 

On the other side of the break, Bengaluru continued to push and came close in the opening stages when Shighil ran at the BUFC defenders and chipped a shot goalward, only to be pushed away by Nishit. The Blue Colts were gifted a fourth when miscommunication in the BUFC box allowed Omega the chance to pounce and bury his strike past a hapless Nishit. 

Striker Rahul Raju had the opportunity to make it five for the Blue Colts in the last ten minutes of the game, but his shot was dragged just wide off the post keeping the score at 4-0.

The Blue Colts next face Young Challengers FC at the same venue, on Thursday, December 23rd.

 

FC Bengaluru United beat Kickstart 1-0 in hard fought-clash

In what could be described as season’s title-defining clash, giants FC Bengaluru United (FCBU) and Kickstart FC confronted under the sunny skies and before the cheering supporters at the Bengaluru Football Stadium. In the end, FCBU carved out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kickstart FC. 

Both teams had their moments in this see-saw game before Luka Majcen scored in the 82nd minute to give defending champions FCBU a well-deserved win. 

Both were slow to get off the blocks – but they gradually began to up the ante, creating half chances and trying to wrest possession. Luka, Aenem K Jurwa and Batskhemlang Thangkhiew were bright in attack for FCBU, while James Singh and Kinshuk Debnath were strong at the back. Soon after the water break in the first half, both teams came close to scoring – two chances for Luka Majcen were saved by the Kickstart goalkeeper, while FCBU goalkeeper Srijith put in a spectacular save to keep Kickstart at bay.

Coming out in the second half, both teams went on the attack right away, the game moving from one counterattack to the other. In the 55th minute a corner from FCBU taken by Aenam was set up for Luka but he was unable to see it through. This was followed by Kickstart failing to make the most of their freekick – as the pendulum continued to constantly swing. 

FC Bengaluru United were relentless in their charge; in the 76th minute a brilliant corner taken by Bedashwar was beautifully set up for Denil, whose shot just hit the post. FCBU’s dogged persistence finally paid off; in the 82nd minute, Kynsailang Khongsit’s smartly placed cross to Luka was adroitly controlled by the Slovenian striker and finished off in a thumping goal.

A thrilling win for FCBU that keeps their unbeaten run intact and sets them up well for the remainder of the tournament.  

Bengaluru FC beat ASC, record second win of the league

Bengaluru FC returned to winning ways in the BDFA Super Division League with a convincing 4-0 defeat of ASC & Center FC at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Tuesday. Goals from Rahul Raju, Jagdeep Singh, Lalthangliana and Robin Yadav sealed the points for the Blue Colts, who now have eight points from five games in the Division, with two wins, two draws and one loss.

The Blue Colts started the game on the front foot, dominating proceedings for the first 20 minutes, coming close on multiple occasions. A flurry of corners went begging as Bengaluru pushed forward in search of an opener. ASC had a chance of their own in the 32nd minute when Rajak Ahamed took a swipe from distance, but Dipesh Chauhan watched it go wide of his frame. 

Ambling towards the break, the Blue Colts broke the deadlock when Lalthangliana’s shot came off the post and fell kindly for Rahul. The striker controlled the rebound and lifted it into the roof of the net to give the Blue Colts the lead. 

ASC & Center came close to finding a response when a freekick found Saroj Rai unmarked in the box, only 15 minutes into the second period. His header towards goal, however, was collected by Dipesh without fuss. Bengaluru doubled their lead when ASC ’keeper Mutum Raj Singh came off his line in an attempt to dispossess Rahul. The striker turned away from goal and set up Jagdeep, whose shot from outside the box floated its way home to double the Blue Colts’ advantage. 

Bengaluru picked up the pace in the final ten minutes of the game as Bhoite sent on Monirul Molla and Vinith Venkatesh in place of Edwin Rossario and Rahul. Lalthangliana found the net soon after and on the break after Omega Vanlalrhuaitluanga’s inch-perfect pass fed the striker through. Lalthangliana made no mistake, rounding the keeper before rolling the ball into an empty net.

The Blue Colts added a fourth on the night on the stroke of 90 minutes when Jagdeep turned provider, lifting a cross over the ASC defence for Robin to attack and nod past Mutum Raj to make it 4-0 and seal the points.

 

FCBU record seventh win on the trot beating BUFC 3-0

FC Bengaluru United (FCBU) recorded their seventh win on the trot with a 3-0 victory over Bangalore United FC (BUFC). Luka Majcen scored a brace while Batskhemlang Thangkhiew chipped in with an early goal as the defending champions shone with a clinical performance in their BDFA Super Division League game under sunny skies at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

Both teams started slowly, but it wasn’t long before FC Bengaluru United hit their stride. In the 9th minute Ashraf Mondal’s long ball to Bedashwor Singh was passed to Kynsailang Khongsit whose cross to Batskhemlang was neatly chested by him into the right bottom corner of the goal to put FC Bengaluru United 1-0 up. That goal spurred FC Bengaluru United; they started to attack with greater consistency. Their efforts paid off in the 25th minute - Kynsailang’s cross to Luka was cheekily backheeled by the Slovenian striker to push FC Bengaluru United up 2-0.

FC Bengaluru United continued to attack in the second half, while not allowing BUFC to push through with any of their half chances. The defending champions were quick on the counterattack, with BUFC unable to penetrate the FC Bengaluru United defense. In the 58th minute, a smart run from the half-line was set up smartly for Luka to score FC Bengaluru United’s third goal of the match and seal a well-deserved win for them.

 

Karnataka take on Andhra in Santosh Trophy qualifiers tomorrow

Thursday will see two interesting encounters as Karnataka and Telangana will look to extend their winning run. Both scored identical 4-0 victories on Tuesday and on Thursday, Karnataka meet Andhra while Telangana take on Tamil Nadu.

Karnataka, who did impress in the opener still have to get their midfield players to string together an effective combination.

Andhra are a young squad while the hosts carry more experience and they meet in the first game at 11.30 am.

Telangana scored some late goals against Andhra and will take Tamil Nadu in the second game at 3.30 pm.

Tamil Nadu did pose a few problems to Karnataka and the 0-4 margin does not reflect their true strength.

Telangana have a task on hand but a win will set up a mouth-watering finale on Saturday against hosts Karnataka.

A win for TN against Telangana May make it easier for the hosts provided they make no mistake against Andhra.

Bangalore to host 75th Hero Santosh Trophy South Zone round

The 75th edition of the Hero Santosh Trophy National Football Championship is just around the corner, as the states from across various parts of the country prepare for their respective zonal groups. 

The teams from across India have been divided into groups across five zones – North Zone, West Zone, South Zone, East Zone, and the North-East Zone. Bengaluru will be hosting the South zone round. All matches will be played at the Bangalore Football Stadium. 

Bengaluru will host South Zone Group ‘A’ of the 75th Hero Santosh Trophy National Football Championship South Zone Qualifiers from November 23-27, 2021 at Bangalore Football Stadium.

Participating teams include hosts Karnataka, semifinalist in the last two editions, have been grouped with Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana All four teams will play the event in a Covid Bio Bubble.

FCBU get past Dream United 1-0

Under cloudy skies, FC Bengaluru United (FCBU) battled hard to record a 1-0 win over Dream United (DU) in their fourth game of the ongoing BDFA Super Division Championship 2021-22 at the Bengaluru Football Stadium. Kynsailang Khongsit (44) was the lone goalscorer for the match as the defending champions notched up their fourth win on the trot.

Both teams began cautiously. FCBU had the early chance – four minutes in, a cross from Khongsit fell neatly in Luka Majcen’s path, but was saved by the DU keeper. FCBU slowly started to build up the pressure, keeping control of possession, but were unable to convert any of the early opportunities, letting go off the ball in the midfield.

Towards the middle of the first half though, the defending champions picked up the pace. In the 34th minute Ronaldo’s shot on goal coming off the back of a perfect set up was dragged just wide of the post. In the 38th minute Chelston Pinto and Majcen combined to score, but it was declared offside. The deadlock was finally broken in the 44th minute -  Aenam G Jurwa adroitly evaded the DU defence, setting up an easy tap in for Khongsit.  

The script ran along similar lines in the second half – FCBU created several opportunities and tested the DU defence but were unable to convert. Luka, Aenam as well as Hayden Fernandes and Shelton Paul - who came on as substitutes - pressed hard and created attacking opportunities, but conversion eluded them.

FCBU play their next game against Students Union on 18th November.
