From Nepal to the Garden City

Here’s the starting line-up of the National football team of Nepal. Nepal had nothing noteworthy to say about in this ongoing Nehru Cup, today they played a losing game against Syria, and finished at the bottom of the points table.

However, Rohit Chand, the lanky side back standing second from left has given us, the football loving fans of Bangalore, enough reason to rejoice.

Rohit was brought in from Nepal as an Asian quota player for HAL in the 2010-11 I-League season.  He along with few other players showed enough grit and determination from an otherwise below-par team to stay afloat in the I-League.

He again joined HAL in the half-way in 2011-12 season, however, his presence in the games could not stop HAL’s relegation from I-League. Thanks to some mindless coaching tactics, he was tried in almost all position except keeping.

HAL’s departure from I-league has deprived this talented Nepalese player from playing in India.

One would have hoped that he’ll get picked by some I-League clubs, however, nothing seems to have happened so far.
