Former India international and Santosh trophy winner AD Nagendra no more

A D Nagendra, 79, former Indian footballer, and member of the then Mysore state Santosh Trophy winning team passed away at Sakra Hospital at 8.30 pm today. 


A dependable defender during his playing days, Nagendra was a serving the KSFA governing body. He was the former Treasurer of KSFA and an outstanding coach of many state teams.


Nagendra coached the Indian U-19 team in a tournament held at Bangalore Kanteerava Stadium. Also, he was an awardee of Karnataka Olympic Association.


“We are shocked by his sudden demise and this last year we have lost several former stalwarts. Mr Nagendra was a soft-spoken and gentle person who has contributed immensely to Karnataka football,” said N A Haris, President of KSFA.


Suresh, Nagendra’s son said the funeral details will be shared later. He said his father was ailing for some time and was in the ICU for over 10 days.


KSFA condoled the death and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
