Bengaluru to host Hero Senior Women's Nationals from Wednesday

Hosts Karnataka grouped with 21-time Champions Manipur begin their campaign in the five-state Group VI qualifier of Hero 27th Senior National Women's Football Championship starting from March 29. Karnataka and Manipur are joined by Gujarat, Assam, and Bihar in this Group VI event which, will be played at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

"We will be staging one game in the morning at 8.30 am and one in the afternoon at 4.00 pm. The winner of the group will qualify for the final phase while the best-second placed stand a chance depending on the results of the other group," said N. A. Haris, President, KSFA and Vice President, AIFF.

"All arrangements have been made for the stay of teams as they start arriving from Sunday night onwards," he added.

An all-women organizers team from KSFA will be managing the entire competition which will end on the 6th of April 2023.

Manipur win their 21st Senior Women’s title

Coached by Bembem Devi, Manipur dominated their supremacy in women’s football by successfully defending the Hero Senior Women’s National Football Championship crown. In the final played at the EMS Stadium, Kozhikode yesterday, December 9, 2021, they beat Railways after a dramatic penalty shootout. 

After a dearth of goal-scoring chances in regulation and extra time, the match went to penalties with the scores at 0-0. Manipur goalkeeper Okram Roshini Devi produced three saves to give her side their 21st title at this level.

Similar to previous editions, Karnataka had an unsuccessful outing losing all three group matches. The state girls were placed in Group D along with Jharkhand, Goa & Delhi. 

With KSFA successfully hosting Women’s League for the last few seasons and widening the league across multiple divisions, we have to start producing better results.

Paromita to captain Karnataka in senior women's football nationals

India international Paromita Sit will lead the Karnataka team in 23rd Senior Women's National Football Championship. The nationals for 2017-18 season to be played at Cuttack, Odisha from January 28 to February 14. 

Karnataka is placed in Group B, other teams from the same group include strong Manipur, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. In the first match, state girls take on Rajasthan on January 30.

Trials for selection of Karnataka State Team to participate in the 23rd Senior Women's National Football Championship will be conducted from tomorrow, 8.30 AM, Jan 3, 2018 at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

Karnataka girls will be travelling to Phagwara, Punjab to participate in 22nd Senior National Women’s Championship. Karnataka is grouped along Manipur, Goa, and Andhra Pradesh. Former India international Amoolya Kamal will lead the team, which is coached by former Asian All Star footballer Chitra Gangadharan.

State women's football team to play in Senior National South Zone qualifier

The Karnataka state women's football team will be participating in the South Zone qualifier 21st Senior National Football Championship 2015-16. The zonal qualification matches will be held at Trichy, Tamil Nadu from December 19 to 27. 

The championship is divided in five zone - North, South, East, West, and North-East. South zone comprises of five states - Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka, and Telengana. The top two teams from each zone will succeed to the final stage. 

The State team, consisting players mostly from Bangalore, is coached by Chitra Gangadharan start their campaign against Telengana tomorrow.

[Notice] Selection Camp - Senior National Women Football Championship

The Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) will be arranging a Selection Camp at Bangalore Football Stadium for Zonal leg of the Senior National Women Football Championship. The matches will be played during December 15 to 25. 

The selection camp will commence from Monday, November 30, onward from 7 AM.

Ammolya included in the probables list for the Incheon Asian Games

Karnataka state Women’s football skipper Ammolya Kamal finds herself in a list of 35 probables. Also featuring in the standbyes list is Karnataka’s Paromita Sit. 

The preparatory camp for the Indian Women’s Team for the forthcoming Incheon Asian Games will kick-off in Mumbai from July 11 to August 25, 2014. The Camp would be followed by an international exposure tour to China from August 25 to September 10 from where the squad would be advancing to Incheon for the Asian Games. 

Head Coach Tarun Roy has named a list of 35 probables for the camp in Mumbai. The list, however, would later be cut down to chopped to 18 for the Asian Games.

Roy who was an AIFF scout in the Senior Women’s National Championships held in Assam highlighted about the “quality” within the squad.

“I was very much impressed with the overall quality of the Players. During the course of the preparatory camp, I will be paying emphasis on improving the fitness levels of the squad,” said Roy.

“We need to fine-tune some aspects and can never afford to shift away from AIFF’s philosophy. My aim is to bring down the AFC Ranking of the Indian Women’s Team to single digit,” he further stated.

At present, the Indian Women are ranked 11 at the AFC level.

Karnataka state senior women’s team will be participating in the 20^th edition of Women's National Championship at Dibrugarh, Assam. Our state girls are placed in Group B along with Goa, Gujarat, Orissa, Mizoram, and Haryana.

  A much stronger Orissa team defeated Karnataka 8-0. Team manager and former international player and coach cited lack of practice and regular women’s tournament for this loss. With only one team qualifying from each group, Orissa girls stand a good chance to qualify for semifinal after 3 win from as many matches. India retain SAFF Women’s Championship

Defending Champions came back from a goal down to retain the Women’s SAFF Championship when they defeated Nepal 3-1 in the SAFF Women’s Championship Final today.

Down by a third minute goal scored by Nepal’s Dipa Adhikari, Supriya Rout Roy restored parity for India five minutes later. Both the teams were locked 1-1 at the interval. Changing over, India doubled the score in the 64th minute through Bem Bem Devi. Kamala Devi completed the rout in the 87th minute.

Bem Bem Devi and her gang might have scored at an average of 6.6 goals per match, however, they played against much weaker teams from the South Asian region. India is ranked 52nd in world, Bangladesh perhaps comes closer with 115 rank, rest - Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Nepal, at cellar position of 128.The step going forward is to create impact at Asian-level.

AIFF congratulated the Women’s Senior Team for retaining the Women’s SAFF Championship in Colombo.

In a message, Mr. Praful Patel, President of AIFF hailed the performance of the team. “The Women’s team displayed exemplary character both on and off the field as they breezed past every obstacle on the way. I congratulate the players and support staff for the achievement,” he said.

Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF, also had a word of praise for the winning squad. “The AIFF left no stone unturned for the preparation of Women’s Team and the results are in front of us. I congratulate the team for the success.”

“Football in India is on the rise. AIFF’s aim stays to popularise the sport among the women. I’m sure the result will go a long way in inspiring a new generation to take up the sport,” he added.

AIFF might have left no stones unturned for the built-up to this tourney, however, one need to really understand the condition of women's football in India. 

How many states/cities hosts league regularly? Where is a league at the National-level? How many domestic tournament these girls gets to play in a year round? 

There's no women's league in Bangalore, sure the situation is same even in most of the football-popular Indian cities/states. 

Lets hope this win will help the cause!

Big Margin Win for Karnataka in Women’s National Football

Karnataka defeated meek Rajasthan 11-0 in the 18th Senior Women’s National Football Championship at the Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal, Manipur on Tuesday, March 9.

For Karnataka captain Amoolya (SAI), Vanitha (SAI), Sena Loadhima (MCC), Aloka D’ Souza (MCC), and Bindu (JNC) scored two goals each and Hema Rajeshori (SAI) found the target once.

In the next match, state girls meet last year’s runners up Orissa tomorrow, March 11. Orissa toyed with Rajasthan in their first match and defeated them by 29-0. Tomorrow’s game is a must-win game for Karnataka should they want to qualify for the quarterfinals. A draw would not do any good for state as Orissa is way ahead in goal difference.

KSFA announces squad for Senior Women’s National

KSFA today announced the 20-member squad for the Senior Women’s National Football Championship. Imphal, the capital of Manipur will host the 18th edition from March 7 to 25, 2010.

Karnataka is placed in Cluster II along with Rajasthan and Orissa. They play their first match on March 9 against Rajasthan and next match against Orissa on March 11. 
 
Manipur is the reigning champion, they defeated arch rivals Orissa 2-0 in the final of the previous edition of the tournament.
