U15 Youth League: Bengaluru FC down Roots Football school 3-0

Bengaluru FC bounced back to winning ways in the U15 Youth League after a dominant 3-0 victory over Roots Football School at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Thursday.

Having dropped points in the previous round against Bengaluru zone leaders Ozone FC (15 pts), the youngsters kept pace with their rivals in the standings taking their tally to 12 points from five games, three behind the table toppers.

After an entertaining battle in the opening half hour, the Blue Colts finally broke the deadlock when medio Lalrokima ran free on an aerial ball before controlling and slotting it home from close range in the 33rd minute. The home side then made superior possession count in the second half with both striker Francis Vanlaldika (53rd) and Abhinav AR (78th) getting on the scoresheet to round off a 3-0 win.

Bangalore to host Santosh qualifiers, BDFA league postponed until January

The ongoing BDFA Super and A Division league matches have been postponed from tomorrow, Nov 30 till January 10 next year owing to Santhosh Trophy South Zone qualifiers, which will be held in Bangalore at the football stadium in the first week of January. 

The state football association will be conducting training camp from next week onward at the same venue for the Santhosh preparation.

U13 Youth League: Roots Football score big win against Ozone

Roots Football School won their home match against Ozone FC by a big margin of 5-1 in the AIFF U-13 Youth League at the Padukone-Dravid  Center of Sports Excellence ground in Bengaluru. 

Captain Rayaan Shakeer put Roots FS into the lead in the 4th minute from a free kick that beat the keeper. Pranav B doubled the lead in the 15th minute from a penalty kick, resulting out of a hand ball. 

Karan Nair pulled one back for Ozone just before the half time. A few minutes into the second half Ozone conceded another hand ball off a corner, and Gautam Rajesh made no mistake in slotting it home. 

Ebenezer Paul scored another goal in quick succession from a pass from Gambeer who made a good run to take the game away from Ozone. Kshitij Gupta completed the dominance with a brilliant solo run all the way from the defense line to goal, dribbling through half of the Ozone team. 

The win puts Roots FS, unbeaten in the first three matches to the top of the Bengaluru Zone of the Under 13 Youth League that has six teams from Bangalore playing on a home and away basis.

Ozone appoint seasoned coach David Booth

Veteran coach David Booth has joined Ozone FC Bengaluru from the beginning on this month. The skilled coach has an extensive understanding of Asian and Indian football with a past in Mahindra United, Mumbai FC, Salgaocar, and the national teams of Myanmar and Laos.

The veteran coach’s achievements make him one of the most respected coaches in Indian football. He won the Federation Cup, Mumbai League and the Super Cup with Mahindra United, I-League 2nd division with Mumbai FC. and he also won the prestigious award as Coach of the year in 2004 from the Football Players Association of India (FPAI).

David Booth is famous for his winning mentality and the ability to elevate the game of his players. David Booth’s first challenge with Ozone FC Bengaluru is the Bangalore Super Division that starts on November 26th with the first game being played against ASC.

Stanly Rozario joins as Director cum Head Coach of Ozone Football Academy

The AFC Professional Coaching License holder, Bengaluru’s Standly Rozario took charge as the Director cum Head Coach of the Ozone Football Academy. The former MEG, Services, and Karnataka midfielder comes with an extensive coaching experience. He was part of the Senior India football team as an assistant coach during the Bob Houghton era, also, he was the Head Coach of East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Salgocar, Shillong Lajong, United Sikkim, Bharat, Army XI and Services team.

With his vast coaching experience at International, National and top Indian clubs level, he stepped into a new role and accepted the challenge of managing and developing the Ozone Youth Academy. He has the experience of bringing out the best talent and performance of the players and molds them to perform at the highest level. 

Standly Rozario says, “I am excited of this new challenge. My vision is to identify the best talent and nurture the players at grass root and youth level to make them the players of tomorrow, players that will represent India one day.”

Along with his experience, he brings a calm, collected, sharp vision and winning attitude to the youth players, which will make Ozone Football Academy reach even higher heights. 

The Ozone Football Academy Bengaluru is participating in I-League's U'13, U'15 and U'18 competitions, where the U'13 and U'15 sides have won all their games, topping their groups.

U15 Youth League: Big margin win for Roots Football School

Roots Football School had a comfortable 9-0 win in their AIFF U-15 Youth League away match against Soccer Stadium at the FSV arena in Bengaluru. 
Uzen Chhoizang put Roots FS into the lead in the 11th minute with a left footed floater that slipped through the keepers’ hand. Roshan Singh scored a brace in quick succession with a powerful long range strike in the 33rd minute and another tap in from a cross off a free kick to take Roots to a 3-0 lead at half time. 
The second half saw Roots FS converting their dominance into goals with Raghav Maheshwaran (46'), followed by Amogavarsha G (57'). Substitutes Mohammed Ashik (59') and Nikshep Grampurohit (65' & 83') came off the bench to score, while Thanush Kumar (85') scored to give Roots an easy outing.

U15 Youth League: Ozone defeat Bengaluru FC

Keeping the winning streak intact, Ozone boys defeated Bengaluru FC 1-0. Playing at the FSV Arena, Hennur, Harpreet Rulbir netted for Ozone in the injury time of the first half. 

Six teams are participating from the Bengaluru zone of U-15 Youth League, matches are played in home and away format. Ozone have completed their first leg with an all-win record, they’re yet to concede a goal and scored 35 goals so far. 

Bengaluru tasted their first defeat after three consecutive wins" into the game on the back of three successive wins. They are in second spot in the table but with a match less played.

Former AIFF President Dasmunshi no more

Former AIFF President Mr. Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi passed away earlier today in New Delhi. Mr. Dasmunshi, who is survived by his wife and their only son was under medical observation since 2008. He was 72.

Sixth Parikrma Champions League kicks off in November 23

The 6th edition Parikrma Champions League will be played from Nov 23 thru 25 at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Payed in U-16 age group, a total of 16 schools will be participating this time including a teams from Dubai, Sikkim, and  Kerala. 

The matches this year will have 20-minute halves and the Semi-Finals and Finals will have 30-minute halves.

Rahul Dravid turns as Bengaluru FC celebrity ambassador

With exactly a week before their Indian Super League opener kicks off at the Fortress, Bengaluru FC announced legendary cricketer and former India captain, Rahul Dravid as the Blues’ ambassador for the upcoming season.

Speaking on the association, Dravid said he was thrilled at now being a part of the Blues, whose fortunes he has been following for a while now. “It’s great to be an ambassador for Bengaluru FC, a team who I have been tracking across the last four seasons. Also, the connect is instant given I am a Bangalore boy. The way the city has responded to BFC has been tremendous and the club has some of the most passionate fans. The ISL will be a new chapter in the club’s history and I’m looking forward to being part of it in my capacity with BFC, said Dravid.

“It’s been terrific to see the kind of progress BFC has made over the last four years. It’s been one of the most professionally run teams and the kind of engagement they have been able to create with the fans and the people of this city has been really nice to see,” he added.

Bengaluru FC CEO, Parth Jindal felt the club has found a perfect fit in Dravid to be ambassador. “Getting Rahul Dravid involved with Bengaluru FC is a huge honour for all of us. Being a true Bengalurian and a believer in youth, we can think of no one who imbibes the values and ethics of this club more than him.” 

The Blues kick-off their debut season in the ISL with a home fixture against Mumbai City FC on November 19 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Injury scare in today’s match between Parikrama and Young Challengers

As the BDFA A Division match between Parikrama and Young Challengers was approaching towards lemon break, Ayush of Young Challengers fell down on the ground after trying to head a 50-50 ball. He was left unconscious for few seconds. 

The ambulance which was deployed at the stadium rushed in and Ayush was given first aid. He regained consciousness and was taken to Philomena Hospital. He was accompanied by the BDFA-appointed physio.  

Ayush underwent an MRI scan and came back to the stadium. He has been advised to take rest. 

Apparently, in BDFA league, they appoint only a physio and not a doctor.

Karnataka to face SAI in the Final Round of Sub-Junior Nationals

Our state lads will take on the Sports Authority of India boys on November 20th  in the final round of the Sub-junior National Football Championship. The matches will be played at JCT Sports Complex, Phagwara, Punjab from November 17 to 30.

Karnataka is placed in Group B along with SAI, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Meghalaya. Group A consists of teams like Punjab, Goa, Assam, Kerala, Odisha. The top two teams from each group will make it to the knock out stage. 

Karnataka qualified to the final stage from South Zone which was played in last September. Team is coached by Shyam Shahi who assisted P Muralidharan during the qualifiers.

KSFA Deputy Secretary Basheer no more

SA Basheer, Deputy Secretary of State Football Association passed away in London today owing to cardiac arrest. It was only few days back he went to UK to visit his son. 

Basheer had played for HAL during his playing days and served as the secretary of BDFA. 
He left his wife, son, and three daughters. 

During the inaugural BDFA League match today afternoon, one minute silence was observed to mark in respect . 

KSFA and BDFA office bearers condoled the sudden death of SA Basheer.

BDFA Super & A division begins on November 10

Bengaluru football domestic season will witness the return of top clubs fighting for the coveted Super Division and A division crown. A total of 11 teams will participate in the top Super Division and 9 teams in A Division.

In Super Division, a newly affiliated ‘professional’ team FC Deccan will be a part of the league this time. Last edition league was won by MEG followed by Students Union. Bangalore Independents are Jawahar Union the newly promoted teams in this edition.

In A Division, SAI, who had an excellent run in the previous season have withdrawn this season as they are want to concentrate in the grassroots development.

All the matches will be played at the Bangalore Football Stadium, Ashoknagar. A Division matches will be played at 1:15 pm and Super Div at 3:15 pm.

On the opening day, young turks of Praikrama will take on Bangalore Eagles in A division and Bengaluru FC reserves will play against CIL.

State selection trials for Junior National Dr. BC Roy Trophy

Trials for Karnataka state team for Junior National U-19 Dr. BC Roy Trophy Tier I will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at Bangalore Football Stadium. 

Junior National Championship, Dr. BC Roy Trophy will be held from December 5 to 15, 2017 at Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

Players born on or after January 1, 2001 and not later than December 31, 2002 are eligible. 

Players attending trail should bring original Birth Certificate issued by Panchayat/Municipal Authorities/Registrar of Births. The date of registration of birth mentioned in the certificate should be within one year of the actual date of birth of the concerned player or school leaving certificate (other than play school) from the first attended recognized school that is clearly indicating the date of birth of the concerned player and also any original photo ID Proof. 

Players have to report on November 8, 11:30 am at Bangalore Football Stadium with any of the above mentioned certificate.

S Thomas the first Federation Cup winning coach passes away

S Thomas, football player of the 60s, who turned up for the top clubs of India and coached the first Federation Cup winning team, ITI passed away today early morning at his residence. 

Thomas was 77 years old and was suffering from heart ailment. He left his only daughter, unfortunately, Thomas lost his wife only fifty days ago. 

During the heydays, Thomas played for East Bengal (63-66) and Mohammedan Sporting (67-71). He represented Karnataka in Santosh Trophy for five years.
