State boys to start U16 Dr. BC Roy Trophy tomorrow, Bhanu to captain

State U16 team will start their Junior National Football Championship Dr. BC Roy Trophy tomorrow 11 am at Hoshairpur, Punjab. Boys will play their first match against Assam. Karnataka is placed in Group A in a 16-team 4-group tournament. Other teams in their group are Punjab and Chhattisgarh. 

Coached by Ravi Kumar of HAL, the U16 team will play their other matches on 7th against Punjab and 9th against Chhattrisgarh. Bhanu Prakash from Parikrama will sport the captain’s armband while Prashanth R will be his deputy. Other officials travelling with the team include MG Chandrashekar and J Chandrashekhar.

State selection trials for Junior National Dr. BC Roy Trophy

Trials for Karnataka state team for Junior National U-19 Dr. BC Roy Trophy Tier I will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at Bangalore Football Stadium. 

Junior National Championship, Dr. BC Roy Trophy will be held from December 5 to 15, 2017 at Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

Players born on or after January 1, 2001 and not later than December 31, 2002 are eligible. 

Players attending trail should bring original Birth Certificate issued by Panchayat/Municipal Authorities/Registrar of Births. The date of registration of birth mentioned in the certificate should be within one year of the actual date of birth of the concerned player or school leaving certificate (other than play school) from the first attended recognized school that is clearly indicating the date of birth of the concerned player and also any original photo ID Proof. 

Players have to report on November 8, 11:30 am at Bangalore Football Stadium with any of the above mentioned certificate.

Karnataka team for 49th Junior National Dr. B C Roy Trophy

The Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) today announced a 21-member team for 49th U-19 Dr. B C Roy Trophy. This year's edition will be played at Ranchi, Jharkhand, from September 19 to 29. 

Karnataka will be playing in Tier-I (qualifying rounds) with 15 other teams. They are placed in Group D, a difficult group along with Punjab, Goa, and, Meghalaya. 

Until now, Karnataka has won the Dr. B C Roy Trophy title four times - 1979, 1991, 2002, and 2010.

Junior National Football Championship, 2011-12

The 48th Dr. B C Roy Trophy, Junior National Football Championship, 2011-12, Tier 1 & 2 will be held simultaneously at Siliguri, West Bengal and Cuttack, Orissa. The Championship will be played from January 18th to 29th 2012.

Karnataka have been placed in Tier 1. The winner from each tiers will make to the Championship round.

City footballer dies in road accident

Anil Rodrigues, a promising junior player, represented Karnataka in the recently concluded 47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy in Kolkata died in Bangalore on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

A senior member of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) football team, Anil hailed from Shimoga, he was studying in Al-Ameen College, and residing in DYSS’ sports hostel in Yelahanka. 

On last Sunday, Anil went out of his hostel room to get some medicine from a nearby chemist shop when he was hit by an unidentified car. He was lying unattended for over four hours.

Later, he was taken to Sita Bhateja Speciality Hospital, Richmond Circle, Bangalore. The injury was fatal and the doctors said that his chances of survival were slight. Anil was declared dead on yesterday.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka crash out

The rookies from Chandigarh caused the major upset of the tournament by walloping 4 goals to the defending champions Karnataka. With this win Chandigarh books their berth to the final and Karnataka departs after showing lot of promises at the earlier stage.

It was a consistent performance by the Karnataka lads form the qualifier stage to the quarter-final round. However, the boys failed to deliver when it mattered most. Though the lads pulled one goal, but it was too late for the defending champs to get back to the game.

Chandigarh plays their final match on Sunday, June 27. In the 2nd semi-final played tomorrow, June 25, 2010, 3 pm, host Bengal, winner from Group B meets Uttarakhand, runner-up from Group A.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka top Group A, enter semi-final

Continuing their unbeaten streak, Karnataka played a 1-1 draw against Uttarakhand. The state lads emerged the eventual topper from Group A and entered the semi-final stage. Karnataka was sitting pretty with 2 wins from as many matches and they needed only a point to top the group. Uttarakhand also made to the top 4 by the virtue of a win, a draw, and a loss.

Meanwhile, Goa crashed out of the tournament by loosing to Meghalaya 1-0. The powerhouse state needed a straight win to qualify for the semis.

Karnataka will play with the runner-up team from Group B on Thursday, June 24, 3 pm. The second ranked team from Group A, Uttarakhand will play with the winner from Group B on Friday, June 25, 3 pm.


This is a consistent performance from the state juniors, let us all hope that they will continue their good run for the next matches. With HAL participating in the I-League division 1 and the other teams eying to tap junior talents, surely the lads will come up with a stellar performance to impress them.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka outdo Meghalaya

The defending champion surpassed the challenge of Meghalaya and registered 2 back to back wins in the Group A quarter final match of the under-19 47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy. In the other match from Group A played today, Goa defeated Uttarkhand 2-0.

Earlier, Karnataka and Meghalaya had played against each other in the qualifying Cluster 1 match, which ended in a draw. With this win, Karnataka cements their position in the semi-final stage. They play their last quarter-final match against Uttarakhand on June 21, 2010, 4 pm.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka beat Goa

Continuing the good run from the qualifier stage, Karnataka convincingly defeated Goa 3-0 in their first quarter-final match from Group A. Amouse, Prakash Majumdar, and Nagraj scored a goal each for the defending champs. In the other match played from the same group, Uttarakhand defeated Meghalaya 2-1.

Karnataka plays their next match on Saturday, June 19, 4 pm against Meghalaya.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka to start the quarter-final campaign tomorrow

After scoring record 27 goals in the group qualifiers, Karnataka is all set to play their first quarter-final match against Goa, 2 pm. The state lads are placed in Group A, the other teams in this group are Uttarakhand And Meghalaya. 

Winner from each cluster and the 2nd best ranked team have qualified for the quarter-final stage. Karnataka and Meghalaya were tied with same points (7) in Cluster I. Karnataka became the group leader with far superior goal difference, 27 against 9. However, Meghalaya too qualified to the quarter-final by the virtue of the best 2nd ranked team from the 7 clusters.

47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy: Karnataka thulp Rajasthan

The state juniors registered a back to back win by crushing Rajasthan 13-0 in their 2nd match of Cluster I in the ongoing under-19 nationals. Last Saturday, the lads defeated Chhattisgarh 14-0.

Sitting pretty with 2 large wins, Karnataka tops the points table, they only need a point to cleanly qualify for the next round. They will play their last group match against Meghalaya on Wednesday, June 9. Meghalaya won their first match against Rajasthan 6-0 and later today they won their second match against Chhattisgarh 4-1.

Lokesh pumped 5 goals and did the bulk of scoring. Prakash Majumdar, who scored 6 goals against Chhattisgarh on the other day, fired 3 goals today. Scoring 9 goals from 2 matches, Majumdar is a real threat to opponents' defense.

47th under-19 nationals

Winner of last edition, Karnataka is grouped in cluster I of the 47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy, junior national football championship. This national championship for the less than 19 age group will be played in Kolkata from June 5.

A total of 28 states are grouped in 7 clusters. Cluster I consists of Karnataka, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. Winner from each cluster plus the 2nd best ranked team from the 7 clusters will qualify for the quarter-final stage.

Quarter-final round is divided to two groups, A and B. Top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final.
